Our health-care system has flaws but the thrust of his complaint is that our system isn't like the American system, so it seems unlikely there would've been any way for him to be happy here.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

The quality of crime reporting in Nova Scotia is appalling. The majority of crime and policing stories are, at best, paraphrases of police press releases and more often, just press releases verbatim. I've learned more about the weekend's emergency alert from online randos than I have from media.

Canada needs money so desperately the government is going after low income people who took pandemic benefits in good faith.

But it doesn't need money desperately enough to keep the luxury tax on yachts, or the slightly higher tax rate on capital gains Carney cancelled.

This year, I’ve had 3 trips to new-to-me destinations in Canada that were originally planned last year as trips to the U.S. They were excellent; this is a big country & despite living my life here, I haven’t seen a large chunk of it. I can’t imagine returning to the U.S. even when the fascists fall.
