A late-diagnosed autistic chipmunk sharing in self-understanding. I'm an amateur peer-supporter and happy to discuss problems that I've experienced, but this is just my experience: I'm not a qualified professional. #ActuallyAutistic #autism #neurodivergent

“How did people manage before WFH”

Many didn’t.
Many couldn’t work.
Many did work but were so exhausted that they had no lives.
Many didn’t spend time with their children.
Many had to spend a lot more money on transport, carers, etc…

It’s called choice and progress.

youtu.be/HKEQKcwYuKo?...

I have an autistic friend who suffers with chronic pain. She uses marijuana medicinally to help. One difficult night, we're gaming and talking, and I commented "You're over here putting the 'high' in 'high functioning'." We laughed hard. Good jerks can be good friends 🥰

Emotional pain: It's not something to be ashamed of, it's a human trait. We developed pain and emotions as an evolutionary advantage, but some of us feel them more strongly than others. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zopP...

After a big fight with trying to upload content on my Tralin account, I'm moving future educational content over to my new account: The Autistic Brood!

Looking forward to hopefully getting back on the posting train with some frequency! 😄

I heard this comment from someone today about concern over special needs children not getting the coverage they need, and oh boy did that strike a chord in me. Retrospectively, it blows my mind that no one noticed me at the back of the class crying, rocking, and hiding from endless bullying.

Although my daily, near-continuous pain isn't a significant amount (and I can typically just not think about it), after four days of increased pain, I'd like to thank my body for finally letting me use the bathroom somewhat normally again.

I've just scheduled my very first vlog on my channel (a day in my Autistic life) for this Friday (the 26th)! I actually had a lot of fun with this one! 💜 Cleaning, managing meltdowns, skating, an pain management! All the things! So keep an eye out if you are interested!

Boy, life has been a lot recently.

I think I'll be dropping my current course in university, and sometime next year pick up a different one that I have a passion for (so it'll be easier on my brain to engage in).

Neurotypical person: writes email, moves on with their life

Me, autistic:

- Write email
- Read email
- Delete half of it because too much detail
- Add some of it back “just in case”
- Overthink periods & exclamation marks
- Triple-check tone, punctuation & pleasantries
- Send with major anxiety

It's my first ASDiversary!

I know I've been a little inactive these past few weeks as I deal with teaching, work, school, and trying to maintain some semblance of a social life, but thank you for being with me on this journey!

#ASD #WorkplaceAccommodations: No lunch meetings. We need alone time to recharge and to handle personal things. Lunch meetings don't just take away from that, they also force us into high-stimulation environments with chewing sounds and food smells. Meetings before/after lunch should be the norm.
