My latest album is out today on @newfocuslabel.bsky.social. It's called "Hemlocks, Peacocks" and features Anna Webber, Daniel Fisher-Lochhead, deVon Russell Gray, and me. I made a score follower video for the first track for those who are curious.

Health officials downplayed COVID risk by overemphasizing "underlying health conditions," leading many to drop their guard.

Most people have "underlying health conditions." Anyone can be vulnerable. Everyone should take precautions.

It's malpractice that they are minimizing bird flu the same way.

Daniel Penny was acquitted today.

“Neely was yelling about being hungry and thirsty, saying he was prepared to be jailed – sometimes considered a better alternative to sleeping on the streets – or die, which others, or at least the one who choked him to death, seem to have interpreted as a threat.”

This is an amazing book, starting with the "impossibility" of being both Black and Swiss. Composer Jessie Cox asks what if Black Swiss were not defined by the state and whiteness as difference, but more like jazz improvisation, a conversation from those who, like himself, are Black and Swiss.
In "Sounds of Black Switzerland," Jessie Cox shows how work by Black Swiss musicians opens up new ways of hearing and exploring the radical potential of Black thought.

Bluestockings Cooperative is an indispensible feminist bookstore in NYC. It's been a fantastic community space for as long as I can remember.

Now it's facing eviction because the store is providing Narcan — and they've actually saved lives!. Please do what you can to help. Details below...
In all honesty we did not think this story would have such reach! Some ways to support 1️⃣ donate to the shelves (bluestockings.com/free-store or www.paypal.com/US/fundraise...) 2️⃣ check out our members program (withfriends.co/bluestockings) 3️⃣ just spread the word we exist 🩵🩵

Our students deserve better. The US leaves public educators and their students on the front lines of gun violence. They don’t want us to teach or learn, they want us to stay afraid. Our students said fuck this, we demand better.
