My digital sculpture of the Water-Moon Avalokitesvara is complete!
A serene figure from Buddhist tradition, Avalokitesvara - also known as Guanyin in China and Kannon in Japan - embodies compassion itself.

realized the setup I used to make lighting in geonodes for the space laser would also work for tree roots, so I made this tree generator.

this takes a base mesh that's a rough cylinder, and adds the "veins" and roots, then re-meshes it for a final sculpting pass.

I want to 3D print a random object out of chocolate and eat it.

Current assignment aside, I've been wanting to revisit my childhood tear-jerker Lobo the King of Currumpaw... But I swear I'll break and never recover if I read it now 🐺😣

Getting close to being done!

I'm using Maya for my assignment, but I swear I'm gonna lose my mind... it suddenly freezes without crashing (??).
Luckily, I have plans to upgrade my RAM soon so hopefully that fixes the problem.

Something I learned from a tutor at a life drawing session: if you can't decide what to study, choose anatomy or color theory (regardless of your skill level) and you won't regret it.

Personally I'd add perspective to the list, as it's often the 'last missing piece'.
Share your knowledge if/when you can. Teaching other people how to do what you do doesn’t lessen your art - it just means more and better art for everyone.

I appreciate when people are willing to tell me about their brushes, how they study, etc… I want to put that back out into the world.

(I plan to only do ~5 of them per year from now on so it’ll be a rare chance)

I think I lost 98% of the audience I gained from doing fanart when I moved here and started focusing on original art, but I don't regret it...
I'm dealing with less imposter syndrome now plus my account has grown just as much in half the time (thank you everyone, thank you Starter Pack!)

I'm pretty much an outsider (and a new-comer) to my local 3d art community where anime and manga aesthetics are very dominant.
There are some who work with realistic animal sculpting or creature design, but I'm waaay outside of any of the zones atm.

Added skin and fur this week :)
The line between just enough detail and too much is very thin...
There are some areas I am no proud of, but I think I managed to make his face handsome, like Legoshi 🐺💖

Seeing a dog owner carrying their lazy pug down the stairs made my day.
Also, after nerding out about the Star Trek franchise forever, my spouse asked if we could watch the entire series together from beginning to end. Yaaay now I’m just wondering how long that would take…🧓🧓

I was just accused for using A* when I sincerely responded to their question in a DM... Since when did people start accusing people for writing gramatically correct, unbroken sentences?

Their reaction broke my heart because I put real effort into explaining things as clearly as I could...

Week 5 into the Animal sculpting mentorship with Gael Kerchenbaum.
Added skin on the wolf ecorche I've been working on for the past couple of weeks. Going to add some fur now!

This is a very interesting result. I watched CSI: Miami during my lunch break yesterday. Apparently the calming effect only happens when I watch Star Trek (still need to test it on TOS, VOY, and ENT)

I think I’ll keep sculpting Buddhist-themed sculptures a while longer before moving on to more mythical creatures and legendary figures.
