Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

Worship is not genuine if it is divorced from social justice. Leo writes that through the prophets, God denounces “the injustices committed against the weakest, and exhorts Israel to renew its worship from within, because one cannot pray and offer sacrifice while oppressing the weakest and poorest.”
In ‘Dilexi Te,’ Pope Leo connects liturgy with the work of justice
Pope Leo XIV's first apostolic exhortation is a timely reminder that Christ summons us to care for the poor.

Oh they don’t like the whistles? Hey everyone, they don’t like the whistles. If you use them it makes the armed goons sad.
Kristi Noem is mad that protesters are blowing whistles at ICE agents.

An ICE employee was among 16 men arrested after trying to solicit a minor for sex in Bloomington, Minnesota, police say

"When he was arrested, he said, 'I'm ICE, boys,'" Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said during a press conference. "Well, unfortunately for him, we locked him up."

The fact that Summers remained so popular after questioning the intellectual abilities of women is really a pretty harsh indictment of US society as a whole and particularly the elite circles Summers travels in, and Democrats should have kicked him to the curb for that shit.

I much prefer this map to the winner-takes-all one ( I really try my best to avoid describing places as "red" or "blue").

Much more precise and accurate this way.

Black American soldiers literally dug these WWII graves. Traumatic. To acknowledge that fact at a cemetery they helped construct is something the Heritage Foundation cannot accept. As Veterans Day approaches, never forget that this country both compels and disrespects Black military service. Always.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Good article. Yes, the "crisis of masculinity" predates factory closings. That problem is definitely not merely about economics and jobs.

The article reminds me of Barbara Ehrenreich's *Hearts of Men*.
