Still thinking about that scholar who implied replicators just weren't skilled enough to reproduce the effects he uncovered. Sure, lab and field experiments are incredibly hard to set up well. But if our findings are that fragile, what are we even doing?

Having AI crammed down our throats is bullshit, but machine learning has some real uses in science. This awesome page shows experimental cyclone track forecasts from Google DeepMind and Google Research's AI weather models, along with forecasts from ECMWF. 😍

👉 Le problème n’est pas « la technologie » en soi, mais qui la contrôle & pour quoi.
Refuser en bloc = laisser les dominants capter le pouvoir technique.
➡️ La vraie solution : reprendre la main sur la tech, pas s’en retirer.

✨Thrilled to see EurIPS launch — the first officially endorsed European NeurIPS presentation venue!

👀 But NeurIPS now requires at least one author to attend in San Diego or Mexico (and not just virtually as before). This is detrimental to many. Why not allow presenting at EurIPS or online?

This is not it. AI adoption is slowing in my opinion because it aggressively scales up the problems of handling information while contributing precisely nothing to the solutions. People are justifiably becoming dissatisfied and upset with that.

Scary. Authors building in hidden instructions for presumed LLM peer reviewers (in white text on white background).
White text on white background instructing LLMs to give positive reviews is apparently now common enough to show up in searches for boilerplate text.

I deleted everything. Every note in Obsidian. Every carefully crafted "second brain." Every Apple Note. Every to do list. Every article on my "read later" list. Every productivity system I'd built over years. Gone in seconds. What followed wasn't panic. It wasrelief. Here's what I learned about our obsession with "capturing everything": The Promise:Build a networked archive so vast it can answer questions before you ask them. Never forget. Never lose an insight. The Reality:My "second brain" became a mausoleum. A dusty collection of old selves, frozen curiosities, and deferred thinking. I was reading to extract, not to understand. Listening to summarize, not to absorb. Thinking in formats I could file, not insights I could live. This is what I know about productivity systems: → Storing an idea isn't the same as understanding it → A perfectly organized system can become a prison → Sometimes the map swallows the territory...

A peine croyable.
BREAKING.

From a reliable source. MITRE support for the CVE program is due to expire tomorrow. The attached letter was sent out to CVE Board Members.
