This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.

We need new leaders in the Senate.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. It’s a reminder that when we come together around strong, forward-looking leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. We’ve still got plenty of work to do, but the future looks a little bit brighter.

oh, and don’t EVER say we shouldn’t demand more of elected democrats. a whole lot of them need to be replaced because they’re still too scared to do the right thing. don’t fucking settle. expect more.

Me: Look at this spot on my hand. What is that? Am I bleeding?
Laura: I think that’s Cheetos.

COUNT I

Kat Abughazaleh did, while law enforcement was in heated pursuit, paint what appeared to be the entrance to a cave on a sheer rock wall, causing law enforcement to forcibly bonk into said wall.

COUNT II

The same thing on a different wall, but then a train came out and ran us over???

with the reality backdrop that the underlying "AI" doesn't actually do a lot of the stuff they claim, and the layoffs are likely not due to AI (yet), but the economic hardships created by their own bad choices (like broadly misrepresenting AI, or supporting government-wrecking authoritarians)

I "enjoy" this disconnect between tech titans claiming that AI will have us all eating pastries and working two days a week and the reality of firing people en masse while simultaneously supporting fascists who oppose universal basic income and are actively destroying the social safety net

reality is very upsetting to the right wing so they are spending a ton of time and money building an alternate reality safe space to delude themselves into believing they aren't unpopular assholes

Story to come. If you try it out, I'd be interested to hear what you find.

Spent a few days in Indianapolis, and made sure I paid a visit to St. Elmo Steak House, home of the "world-famous, sinus-clearing shrimp cocktails". Oh yeah, that is some mighty fine horseradish — if a shrimp cocktail doesn't do damage to your sinuses, it ain't worth eatin'. Bravo!

When ICE comes to Philly it’s going to be brutal
Portland resists with whimsical improv theater, Chicago resists by screaming at weird jagoffs that don’t belong in the neighborhood. Every city brings its own strengths to the fight
The energy we need is this suburban dad standing out in the street -- barefoot with Blackhawks pajama pants on -- screaming at the masked goons to get the fuck out of their neighborhood.

The third richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

See the problem here?

yes! how can *both sides* turn down the temperature when one side keeps dousing everything in accelerant?
It's also prepping for the establishment just capitulating further, once these assholes are out of power, under the guise of "turning down the temperature."
i really resent the continued assertion that there’s so much anger on both sides, as if the causes of the anger are equally legitimate. we’re angry because masked maniacs are violently snatching our family and neighbors off the street, and they’re angry because we’re calling them out for it.

It’s not HIS house.
It’s OUR house.
We just let him live there.

God, I hope we can back Congress next year and then kick his disgraceful ass out.
