Every single Jason Statham movie since THE TRANSPORTER has just been a series of entries in one guy’s incredibly weird and violent life.
What are everyone’s most nonsensical headcanons with no grounding in anything whatsoever? Mine is that in the DC Comics universe, both Gar Logan and Stephanie Brown will be elected president, Gar will actually do a good job, but only because his sole policy is letting Vic Stone be really in charge.

I think it's safe to say that the ship is no longer leaking at this juncture, and is now actively taking on water.
! Chuck @schumer.senate.gov asks unanimous consent that the Senate immediately read and pass the bill to release the Epstein files, un-amended, "as soon as it comes over from the House." No objections. Motion succeeds. Bill is deemed to the Senate unanimously, will go to Trump to become law.

I am fascinated by the people responding to this like Keith is making some sort of redemption argument here, rather than commenting on how these three women – all avowed anti-feminists! – appear to be accidentally, involuntarily recreating early-stage feminism from scratch within their movement.
I'd be really curious if someone better versed in feminist theory wrote about what's happening on the right. Because between Greene, Mace, and Bobert, we've got this bloc forming of women who seem tired of serving a patriarchy of sex criminals. And their rhetoric is starting to lean that direction.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for 6 years for. I gave him my loyalty for free. I've never owed him anything. Let me tell you what a traitor is -- a traitor is an American that serves foreign countries."

One my personal "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills" things is that I VERY CLEARLY remember a 10ish year-long phase of her career where she very actively demurred or otherwise politely refused to answer the question "are you a feminist?", and pivoted away from that only fairly recently.
Stop trying to pretend Taylor Swift isn’t like other billionaires. Her scummy merch practices make it clear that she is **exactly** like other billionaires.

Everything sells out immediately on purpose. She’s using scarcity marketing to get fans to panic-buy low quality merch at obscene prices.

Been threatening to for a while, but just dropped the axe on my Hulu subscription. The returns have been diminishing for a while, and since Disney already announced they're killing it next year anyways, might as well start saving myself the $19/month.

(You're on deck, Netflix!)

Ken Burns & co. getting Paul Giamatti do to the John Adams voiceover bits for their new AMERICAN REVOLUTION doc is a nice touch.

A month ago I was walking around sunny 55F Portland in a light ling-sleeve button down with the sleeves rolled up. Now I’m sitting in overcast 58F San Diego in a long-sleeved t-shirt and thick sweatshirt.

Regional acclimatization is a heck of a thing.

So....Olivia Nuzzi very clearly thinks she's Carrie Bradshaw from SEX & THE CITY, right?

Walt Disney was not a good person by any stretch, but at least he was creative and strove to do something new each time. The company that now bears his name is now nothing more than a snake endlessly eating its own tail.
Live-action remakes of animated movies might be the most creatively bankrupt Hollywood trend of my lifetime. Nothing worthwhile about them.

Imagine Monica Lewinsky writing something like that Nuzzi excerpt about Bill Clinton in 1998. People would have justifiably had her involuntarily committed. It’s the kind of thing you find in a stalker’s letter.

If you don’t recognize that that Raskin message about Majorie Taylor Greene is directed solely at Trump, for the purpose of further fracturing his political coalition, maybe you should refrain from opining about politics for a day or two.

Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

Today is once again the anniversary of of the trial, and subsequent hanging, of John “Calico Jack” Rackham, one of the last remaining holdouts of the “pirate republic” of Nassau. And here’s the thread I posted on this bit of history last year, which went *wildly* viral.

Yo ho, yo ho.
THIS WEEK IN HISTORY: John "Calico Jack" Rackham and several shipmates were tried & convicted for piracy in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Rackham was executed in Port Royal on Nov. 18, 1720, 304 years ago. His body was then gibbetted on a small islet known to this day as "Rackham's Cay."
