There’s only one way to explain why questions like “who do NYC voters like for mayor,” and “what do San Franciscans think about George Washington,” become national issues that define the Democratic Party, while genuine Republican extremism with national implications is glossed over as a local issue.
The whole state of Idaho banning all vaccine mandates should be bigger news! If you want your grandmother's nursing home or your daughter's day care to require nurses and teachers to vaccinate, you literally can't! None of them are allowed to require that.

The self immolation of the world's greatest research ecosystem out of petty grievances is something to behold.
"Within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, there will be a 75 percent cut to the sciences division and a 60 percent cut to the arts and humanities. The scope of cuts to the social sciences division remains unclear but is estimated to fall somewhere between 50 and 70 percent."

The worst part about being a Guardians fan isn't the playoff losses; it's the getting so far, knowing you're so close to winning it all, and knowing that ownership will never make the investments needed to break an 80 year title drought.
Mixed feelings. Guards were fun, and sad to see them eliminated, but I'm also glad a team that was selling at the deadline wasn't rewarded any further. Though, they've been selling for years so not sure this changes anything

The fact that right-wingers commit the vast bulk of domestic terrorism in the US is well-established by numerous expert investigations & reports.

But the right *accuses* the left more often, makes more *noise* about it, so they've bullied reporters into framing this as a "both sides" problem.

Teachers may not have caused the lack of public trust in science (not the only institution we've lost faith in) but unless we do a better job teaching kids to interpret scientific information to make good decisions, the problem will get worse not better.

The US president trafficked & raped underage girls, the evidence is overwhelming, everyone knows it, and this country's elites & institutions are so broken, so insular, so decadent that we can't even bring ourselves to state it clearly, much less do anything about it.

Contemptible & pathetic.

This is an extremely cool way to teach kids about the very abstract concept of time #edusky
“What makes About Time stand out among science books for kids is its global perspective. Rather than presenting timekeeping as a Western invention, the book explores how ancient civilizations worldwide measured time — through stars, water, shadows, and sand. This inclusive approach was intentional”

The United States was formally founded in 1789. Slavery was the major mode of economics for 33% of the country's history. So it makes sense that slavery would be at least a third of the American History Museum's subject matter. -OS

If you want to attract/keep talent people in the classroom, you have to pay them. The compensation just doesn't match the value of the work.
What teachers are making in all 50 states

They shouldn't have to work 2 jobs to make ends meet b/c they wanted to become a teacher & make a difference

#Teachers are crucial... they shouldn't struggle & not get appropriate compensation

It's painfully obvious none of these lawmakers have ever worked with kids because if they did, they would know that the best way to ensure that a child (especially a teenager) will read something is to make it forbidden.
