According to a nationwide study of 28 million people in France, vaccinated adults had a 74% lower risk of dying from severe COVID-19, and a 25% lower risk of death from any cause compared to unvaccinated.

Much remains to be learned about the virus, but one thing is clear: the SARS-CoV-2 virus can unleash widespread, systemic effects throughout the body due to its ability to cause damage to endothelial cells (termed endotheliitis). This process is associated with microvasculature dysfunction and is a major cause of the acute and chronic complications (Long-COVID-19) of the disease.

COVID remains the top cause of acute respiratory infection deaths in 2025 — nearly 2× influenza and almost 5× RSV.

korean reporting is nightmarish on the conditions Korean workers were contained in
Their waists and hands were tied together, forcing them to bend down and lick water to drink. The unscreened bathrooms contained only a single sheet to cover their lower bodies. Sunlight barely penetrated through a fist-sized hole, and they were only allowed access to the small yard for two hours. Detained by US immigration authorities for eight days, the workers and their families expressed shock, describing human rights violations and absurdities they could not have imagined as ordinary Koreans living in 2025.
