In normal circumstances I actually dont mind this move by Reeves. But when Brexit is costing us up to £160bn a year, these little fiddles are insane. It just punishes the middle to lower earners further. Unless Brexit is faced up to as the disaster it is, we are never getting out of this.

Over the next 5 yrs, 780,000 more people, the poorest, will pay income tax for the first time.
Someone earning £50,000 will pay £9,512 in tax, an increase of £1,247 because thresholds are frozen.
Can't grow economy by hitting low/middle income earners.

No fiddling with income tax or raising car taxes or pathetic trade deals will cover this annual black hole. There is nothing any government in this country can do to make up this gap. The choice is to rejoin or inevitable and fast decline.

He needs an excuse. He needs a reaction from *somebody*. He wants riots in Chicago, LA, Portland, or Boston, or Venezuela to retaliate in some way, because then he can either declare insurrection/war and cancel all forthcoming elections for years to come, and the Supreme Court will wave it through
