Gay DC area knitter, I enjoy sewing, gardening, board games, cocktails, good food, art, travel, books, music, TV, and movies. Drag Race and Pokémon addict.

Bring me a Negroni or a Sauvignon Blanc and let’s dish!
Reflecting on a brief but memorable weekend in Vancouver. So grateful to escape for some kindness, wonder, good food, and of course cocktails. No question that I’ll be back. #vancouver

Dear many, many restaurants these days,

Please stop worrying about our health and properly salt your dishes. Give us flavor!

Some use the word to apologize or point out something noteworthy. It's become a social media obsession among Michiganders, Wisconsinites, and Minnesotans alike.
Where does "ope" come from?
If you live in Michigan, it's very likely you’ve heard someone use the word “ope” more than once. But why do we say it and where does it come from?

If you’re trying to find me at the airport, it’s a safe bet I’ll be at the nearest Vino Volo. A safe haven of good taste. 👅

Sauvignon Blanc, naturally.

catherine o’hara was absolutely god-tier at harmonization, first of all, and then the fact that she performed this number in character, with all those subtle expressions and moments, is just…fuck. a once-in-a-lifetime talent

RIP to the absolute LEGEND, Catherine O’Hara. She made us cackle, she made us cry, and she always did it with grace and an absurd sense of humor. It feels appropriate that I’m headed to Canada today and will toast to her memory. Maybe with Herb Ertlinger fruit wine. 🍷 😭

While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities.

Independent bookstores deserve your support. Amazon does not.

Hey, you. Stop doomscrolling.

Go take your meds. Eat something. Drink water. Go for a walk. Hug an animal. Call someone you adore.

Breathe.

We are inundated with fuckery. You still need to take care of yourself.

On business travel my preference is efficiency in the airport - as little time as possible and go right to the gate.

But for personal travel I want to take my time, chill with a cocktail, & stroll to the gate.

I crave an airport restaurant that has something on the TVs beyond news & sports. 🙄

Isn’t it about time that the announcements at DCA stop saying “due to increased TSA security measures…?”

Like, it’s been 20 years. Few people here will even remember what it used to be like.

On a lighter note today - the current season of Traitors UK is the best ever (even better than any US or Australia season). It’s the season of strategy and it. Is. Wild! #traitorsUK

(It will eventually show up on Peacock - for now you need a VPN or other outlet to watch.)

Make that 76 - got through a half-finished one yesterday afternoon.

What was your favorite read(s) in 2025? I love a good memoir, and my faves were from Cher, Jeff Hiller, Tim Curry, and Miranda Hart.

My favorite novels I read were the Killers of a Certain Age series by Deanna Raybourn.
