If Alex didn’t have a gun on him they’d have made up some other excuse like he had a crazed look in his eye or he made a verbal threat or that he was made of fentanyl.

The specific lie is irrelevant. Just that there will always be one.

Dear politicians,

A strongly-worded social media post that ends with “This must stop” is not meaningful in the face of jackbooted thugs running roughshod over the constitution and murdering people. Words are meaningless. Do something.

Thanks,

Yes! Residents reside in a residence!!
*residents

Please, for the love of decency, use the correct terminology. residence = home.
residents = people who live somewhere.

Was just going over some old issues of The Racket and found this. I wrote it in July 2024, just after the Republican convention.

I never thought about -why- right-wingers always accuse people trying to make the world a better place of “virtue signalling,” beyond my gut reaction that they're assholes or trolling. This, of course, is the meat of it. 👇👇
A big part of the current right wing belief system is that everyone is actually just as bigoted as they are, and are only pretending not to be as a public performance ("virtue signalling").

They genuinely thought once they started doing open racism, everyone would join in

ICE and MAGA really did bet the farm on all of Minneapolis’s white people going “oh yes, please take away our disgusting, evil non-white-foreigner neighbors, oh thank you so much.”

it’s beautiful that they’ve been proven incredibly wrong about that - may the rest of the country do the same.

The good news is that I'm finding fewer and fewer right-wing bigots and racists on this platform. The bad news is that I'm still finding them.

Suddenly, dozens of planes in the area must scramble to get out of a newly designated FAA "debris zone."

I'm generally for compassionate release of elderly people, depending on the crimes. In my view from the cheap seats, Peters' crimes are too great to warrant compassionate release.

Here’s a comment for the people who are upset that MN hasn’t charged Jonathan Ross already:

If you just Leeeroy Jenkins this shit you will lose and you will empower fascism and murder.

It is indescribably hard to prosecute cops for murder. It is even hard when the murder is ON VIDEO.

One wrong turn in Pam Bondi's early life, and she'd be a bleach blonde woman in a trailer park, living on government assistance, cigarette dangling from her mouth, feeding table scraps to six stray cats while her pitbull, tied to a chain attached to a front year bathtub, barks incessantly.

Ok but a rogue U.S. president invaded a sovereign nation without congressional approval and kidnapped its leader. I'm all for banning stock trading by lawmakers, but priorities, man.

Can’t wait until the Trump administration declares that Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen of Greenland is a notorious drug kingpin, obtains an indictment against him, claims America can invade to “capture” him, makes the nation a US colony and threatens Denmark to ensure they “meet our demands”
Chris Murphy: "Over and over again we have seen these warmongering neocons, many of which have influence in this White House, cheerlead us into war under the guise of removing a very bad man. That ends up getting a lot of Americans killed."
January 4, 2026 at 9:43 PM
Congress shows no inclination of checking Trump on his Venezuelan power grab, so I worry Greenland is next. It will be up to a coalition of EU countries, once allies, to check the U.S.

What a 💩 time to be alive.

Chuck doesn't get it. This is not an "escapade." It is a violation of another country's sovereignty, and very possibly an illegal act*.

* I'm not a lawyer, so can't say confidently. Besides, anything can be called legal with a little creativity, and lack of morals or basic human decency.
Schumer: "Rubio I just heard in your interview said they're doing what's good for the American people. If they want to do what's good for the American people, it should not be some escapade in Venezuela. It should be focusing on lowering the cost of living that Americans are struggling with."

My kid is 18, and because he grew up in such a digital age, handwriting we never given great emphasis, by the school, or by us. He can of course read (he's very bright and reads a lot), and can write (mostly legibly), but handwriting and cursive were secondary, even tertiary, to his education. 1/2

Two takeaways for me:

1. Democrats need to stop moving to the center. This should be painfully obvious to anyone on the left who's watching in horror what's happened over the past decade.
