This is not hyperbole. You are mistaken if you think you can keep your head down and ride this out. The historical analogy is apt and we are running out of time. At there very least, I want my grandson to grow up knowing that at least I tried. What is your legacy going to be?
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
Nate Charles, former DOJ national security prosecutor and Navy SEAL Officer makes a compelling argument for why MAGA comparisons to Nazis are historically accurate

The 7 conservatives on the court are absolutely untethered from any legal precedent and their reading of the Constitution is like the way Christian fundamentalists read the bible, i.e. they emphasis the parts that support their agenda and ignore parts that don't and then claim they are "originalists
NEW: The Supreme Court opened the floodgates to lawsuits challenging the counting and certifying of election results, ruling 7-2 that any candidate for federal office may challenge laws governing their election.

It’s what Trump’s thugs said as they dragged him that appalled me.
How does *anyone* do that to a fellow countryman.
What did the greatest generation fight for in WWII, if this is what the US government is doing to its own citizens ?

This is HILARIOUS (Although Tom Holman would probably characterize it as the type of rhetoric that justifies shooting someone in the face multiple times)

The agents were dropping F Bombs at the scene!!! "Get out of the fuckin' car!" "Fuckin' bitch!" Who was being inflammatory?? Cops are supposed to be cool under pressure, able to handle people saying things they don't like. That's what they're supposedly trained -- and paid -- to do.
More proof that traditional media is out of touch:

The level of pearl clutching over Mayor Jacob Frey dropping a well-deserved f-bomb versus the outrage over the murder of Renee Nicole Good
WELKER: Do you bear any responsibility to bring down the temperature?

FREY: Of course. But I dropped an F bomb and they killed somebody. I think the killing somebody is the inflammatory element here and not the F bomb.

There is no attitude for which legacy journalists are more often rewarded by their bosses than "Everybody needs to calm down." It is a preening announcement that you are the adult in the room, immune from emotion or overreaction or "hysteria." And it is the worst imaginable priority for this era. >

It’s hard to believe that one man can cause so much stress, so much fear, so much pain and suffering…a man who took an oath to preserve and protect our Constitution. This man, who is inciting terror across our land, must be removed from office. In a sane world, it would happen immediately.

TWO! A Whopping two R Senators! (I have no doubt that Susan Collins is "deeply troubled" over this matter, but has only signed on to this to burnish her "moderate" bona fides because she expects that her vote will ultimately not matter)

Mr. Friedman commented further saying:

"If this happened to a conservative organizer, Republicans would make her a hero, a household name and a congressional candidate.

Elected Democrats just pretend it isn't happening."

The last part is a big reason were are in this mess in the 1st place

Another excellent story from NYT's vaunted investigative journos. Or it would be excellent if it wasn't at least 3 years late. This seems to be a trend. See their coverage of Trump's health.

This is a very good analogy. It should be noted that they not only do they claim to be able to ascertain the "true" meaning of the text, they also assert that they, _alone_, are the only ones capable of doing it
An analogue I’ve noticed between fundamentalist scriptural exegesis and jurispudential originalism as actually practiced in the wild: Both enable a kind of ventriloquism by assuming univocality in the texts they purport to interpret.
