I've had 40+ new followers today, and no idea why.

Anyways, if you're new here, hello!

I'm Dave, I mostly post about gaming stuff, cooking, and when the weather's nice, gardening.

I follow back chaotically, as the mood strikes. And I block alt right chuds.
Just had the best run in arc raiders. Lightly armed, with a looters backpack, exploring the ruins of the spaceport while two teams of raiders had a running battle going on.

I hid, crawled, and scavenged my way to an extract.

Didn't fire a single shot, and extracted w a lot of valuables.

Taking my daughter out for sushi. She's never been.

Next table over, a woman is ordering with a shellfish allergy.

What kind of person goes for sushi with a shellfish allergy!?

Back in the 90s, there was a comic about an assassin who would deliver warning shots to corrupt politicians, and if they didn't change their ways, the next bullet was real. His name was X or something.

He's pretty heavy in my mind these days.
Name your fav superhero that isn’t DC or Marvel

Ive spent the last two hours scouring the apartments of a buried city, moving from tunnel to tunnel, and breaking into buildings from the rooftops, all in search of... Toasters.

I need three. For... Reasons.

Ive dealt with robots, and snipers. And come through.

Greetings, fellow humans.

I have a #DnD community question for the #TTRPG folks out there:

I've had a lot of luck learning the history of TTRPGs in the world, but I had a few hyper-specific questions about the hobby history during the 80s.

Anyone recommend some scholars of Bluesky?

The thing I love about arc raiders is that you meet a bunch of people who are incentivized to kill you and take your stuff, and they just... Don't.

Ive YET to encounter another player who is playing to kill. One guy shot me... And then immediately brought me back to life.

Warms my heart.

Oh man Arc Raiders is GOOD.

Did a mission where I was carrying good loot, trying to sneak past these huge robots to get to an evacuation point.

Got there and two other players were there, and not sure if they could trust me. Then three arcs closed in, and we fought em off and escaped.

So there’s gonna be a new tax ESPECIALLY for the people who 1) can afford to move halfway across the country and 2) would do so because of an election result

I think we should let him cook here
They’ve all gone mad.

My daughter's friend came over for dinner tonight.

One of the things I do when cooking is ask my kiddo what the meal needs. More salt? Some vinegar?

It's kind of how I onboard her for the meal (shes picky), but also to teach her how to cook.

Her friend was AMAZED I asked, and then LISTENED. 1/2

Was in the school office today (had some forms to fill out) and saw a brand new teacher on her first day (she's still in uni, today she's getting shadowed).

She looked all of 19, was bursting w excitement, and i was thrilled for her.

Just downloaded Pacific Drive on the Xbox because it's free on gamepass.

A survival horror game where you drive an old 1970s beater car through a haunted post apocalyptic Pacific Northwest.

My wife watched me play. She was entranced. Pretty sure she'll be playing it soon.

Saw the trailers for arc raiders. A shooter where avoiding shooting is a good tactic? In a post apocalyptic setting? Where the point of the game is scavenging?

Oh man, so much yes.

Made up a crew of travellers, as if they were all PCs. They rolled up a ship (a far trader variant), and had a decent amount of cash. Then I started playing them, to get a feel for how the various subsystems interact. A few thoughts:

I'm making some NPC cards for my upcoming #traveller campaign, and does anyone know good filters or apps for turning photos into b&w art that isn't powered by generative AI?

If dungeon crawl classics had an official band, it would absolutely be Castle Rat.

1980s van art aesthetic, with super stoner rock riffs.

Chef's kiss.

Spent an hour in the library, and overheard a down on her luck woman try to enlist a librarian into helping her commit fraud.

Librarian talked her down, and later told me "services are cut, but people need help. So that's my job, now."

Librarians are fucking SAINTS, y'all.

I get embarrassed when millennials mock the "67" thing on the basis that "at least 69 had meaning."

None of this is intellectual. We used to say ROFLcopter and laugh at Nyan cat. It's all just stimming and references for references sake. There's been no fall from grace! Get over yourselves!

We're at the tim Hortons right now, and the kitchen is playing Taylor Swift. My daughter's ears perk up.

"Daddy, they're playing Taylor!"

"Scout, the kitchen staff are all Filipino. They're a nation of switfies."

So now Scout wants to go to the Phillipines.

So proud of my country today. We should air these ads on Fox News every hour on the hour.

So far, it's barely even sprinkled all day. A touch of rain has ~just~ started.

Pretty sure our meteorologists have been huffing glue.
Huge rainstorm headed my way - like, so big it's making national news and my phone keeps sending me warnings.

It rains a lot here, especially this time of year, and I've never received weather warnings for just rain before.

Interesting to see how this all goes down.
