What Kalshi is suggesting, the financialization of all life, is a hop skip and a jump from where we are (55% or Americans placed a bet in 2024!), and I find all of it profoundly depressing. I don't even watch sports anymore but it hurts my heart to know how people are processing the games they watch
It all reads to me as Capital having nothing to offer us but a slim chance of winning our way out of living paycheck to paycheck. Unfortunately, Capital is both the house and a competing player who has all the tools to see further ahead then we do, so that slim chance is basically illusory.

I'm tired of the daily death threats. I'm tired of being all that stands between good people and the abyss. I'm tired of waking up every morning and doing the "clear the mechanism" routine from "For Love of the Game" to make the pain from my Crohn's bearable so I can focus.

I'm tired of being called a kapo because I believe the evidence of my eyes and not propaganda. I'm tired of not being able to pray in a synagogue with my wife because every congregation in a ninety minute radius is either zionist, transphobic, or hostile to interracial couples.
