It's complicated
Finally got around to watching "Downfall" this evening. It has a very peculiar resonance about it at this time.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

This is excellent. This is the kind of guidance needed in the face of a lawless regime.
We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community.

The American people need you to stand up for our laws and our Constitution.

Don’t give up the ship.

I really think putting staggeringly dumb rich people who are also total jerks in charge of everything was a bad call.

A small business owner laid it out plainly: “If they raise me, I’m going to have to raise you. I apologize.”
Trump’s tariffs don’t punish China — they punish *you.*
Higher costs. Higher prices. Higher pain for families already stretched thin.
This is the Trump Tax, and it hits everyone.

It's had a good run: 40 long years. Time to lay it to rest? That small step alone would improve global cybersecurity by at least 50%, right?

hypercentralizers are not having a good day today -- #github has joined #cloudflare to block or slow down millions of folks from doing stuff.

Maybe a good time to checkout out this new ACLU article about the current Apple/Google app-store oligopoly […]

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

Fix that.

Just watched "A House of Dynamite"; I noticed how many government agencies shown in the film would be essentially inoperative today in such a scenario under our current administration. But then again, that's why nobody needs to attack us with an ICBM now; we've already done all of the hard work.

Cost to fund SNAP and keep 42 million people from starving:

$100 billion

Cost of lost revenue due to tax cuts for the richest Americans in the top 1%:

$100 billion

One is decried as "welfare." One is not.

Why?
