Dick Van Dyke, who turns 100 today, recording the Bye Bye Birdie Broadway cast album with Chita Rivera.
Birdie opened at the Martin Beck Theatre on April 14, 1960. The show into the recording studio on April 24 (postponed a week due to Easter) and was in stores on May 2. Talk about turnaround.
