New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

There are so many excellent reporters and magazine writers out there scraping by or leaving the industry altogether. But there's apparently always more money and attention for the people seemingly endeavoring to cross every moral and ethical line in the business

Ambivalent about saying more on the Nuzzi shit as it makes me incandescently angry but while it's fun to read all the salacious stuff we have a crisis of confidence in journalism and it's insane that one person can not only do so much damage but then *still* be hired and promoted by the industry

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

As DHS attorneys argue in court this morning that reporters are somehow just wandering into the path of fire and catching strays is their own fault, here's a video from 9/26 (the date in question) that shows feds aiming directly at an obvious press gaggle trying to stay out of their way:
ICE advanced again, started firing at photographers/press intentionally. Took a nasty lick to the face, unsure if pepper ball or rubber bullet.

Linking Tylenol to autism could harm pregnant people’s health, doctors warn
Acetaminophen is one of the few drugs that pregnant people can safely use to relieve pain or fever — conditions that, if left untreated, can increase the risk of birth defects and premature delivery.
