When I interviewed Spinal Tap and Marty DiBergi this summer, none of them broke character, for the whole hour. Except Rob Reiner, once, losing it when Michael McKean's David St Hubbins talked about minimalism. I didn't use this in the feature and hadn't published any audio, but this is joyful.

"Do it or get fucked by the consequences" is how we got everyone (gen-x 👀) wearing seatbelts. And indoor smoking banned (boomers 👀).
There is a population of people who reflexively respond to gentle, respectful, and informative attempts at public health persuasion with Oppositional Defiance.

Weirdly, they have less of a problem with "do it, or get fucked by the consequences I have invented to ruin your day."
I've always thought that the better response to anti-vax sentiment from communities without a well-rooted fear of the medical-scientific community is "shut the fuck up, get your shot or you will be punished" rather than attempting to get people to understand.
