In another video you hear this woman saying she has autism and “ it takes me a second to understand.” I can’t help thinking that if we’d done the right thing after Elijah McClain’s murder, we might not be here. and a whole lot of people, including dems, are responsible for that.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

You notice how thousands and thousands of cops aren't coming out to condemn Jonathan Ross for senselessly killing Renee Good?

This is what people mean by "all cops are bastards". If this were any other profession, the entire group would condemn it. With cops it's the reverse, they all justify it.

This picture was taken in 2000 by an Associated Press photographer who was allowed to be present as an observer. ICE now keeps press blocks away from the areas where they are operating. One of the first actions ICE takes during a raid is to confiscate phones.

re: this conversation, we seriously need to stop validating the language that paints LLM models as able to actually think "if Grok can recognize-" stop it. Grok cannot recognize shit because Grok is an algorithm designed to provide responses to input that will keep the user maximally engaged.
One example of how Grok is being used to target women. Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch being sexualised, degraded, and humiliated step-by-step by Grok. All the images accurately reflect the prompts provided.

if your solution to the current issues is that we need to mobilize for an election in five to eleven months you fundamentally do not understand the scale of the problem and are actively working against accountability, you should be mad at the people who are only made bc "procedure was violated"

wait drake is friends with Adin Ross? that seems like important context to the Drake mythos
Drake has been accused in a federal class-action RICO lawsuit of using the online sweepstakes casino to boost the play counts of his music across the major streaming platforms.
Drake accused of using an online gambling platform to inflate play counts of his music
The Canadian rapper and two others are also accused in a RICO lawsuit of using the Stake gambling platform to transfer money between themselves.

Mamdani took over the @NYCMayor account on Twitter but old Eric Adams tweets are still active. That means Mamdani's name and face shows up for old tweets he didn't send.

You're probably going to see a lot of screenshots like this where Mamdani appears to praise Netanyahu, but they aren't by Mamdani

very notable that the billionaire outlook is the outlook of a "zero-sum world," not the people who want them to stop treating the world as a zero-sum game. this is very common with these kinds of milquetoast bad opinion havers, they all invert the philosophical underpinning of reality to say this.
The perfect Yglesias post: declaring “billionaires are good, actually,” as if it was some bold, counterintuitive take.

the chair of the Kennedy center saying the center will sue Chuck Redd, and the way it was said, is directly related to the AI push. people with influence and wealth are so deeply uncreative and intensely jealous of the creativity of others, they view creative people as public property.

so there's this thing that goes hand in hand with this and that is defunding education to the point that "vibe reading" is a reasonable lesson plan. but yeah not only has education funding been systemically gutted, standards for reading don't even teach people to read anymore.

Parisot (the Director) tells a story about how Tim Allen just started crying after a scene one day

"I don't like these feelings i'm having." Says Tim. "I'm going back to my trailor" and walks off.

There's silence for a second.

"Oh my god." Says Rickman. "I think Tim just experienced acting."
Galaxy Quest - a perfect movie, just a wonderful love letter to actors, sci-fi, Star Trek in particular, and to fandom - really deserves a proper physical release with decent extras. Think Weaver's right that releasing a R-rated cut would be fun, too.

when your analytical tools are rooted in ideas from the turn of the 20th century and the dawn of industrialization, and not the world you actually inhabit, you end up defending racism, socialistly.
I wrote about why we should not celebrate someone losing their job, especially in today’s America, even when they’ve done terrible racist things.

Losing a job should also be harder and involve workers’ bodies not unilateral management decisions.

what does a "resolution condemning socialism" do, exactly? like, they do resolutions condemning things all the time but like, American culture is so averse to anything remotely resembling workers rights that socialism has literally lost all meaning. also waiting for the one denouncing anti fascism.
BREAKING: The House of Representatives voted 285–98 in favor of a resolution condemning socialism.

Eighty-six Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
