It's a good job I've no intention of visiting the place anytime soon. Doubt I ever will, now.
NEW: Five years of social media history is only a fraction of what the US Government will shortly demand of overseas visitors.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

Below is the full, mind-blowing list.

How many times do we need to point this out?
By appeasing the far right, you do not weaken it. You strengthen it.
While weakening your own position.
There's a vast amount of academic research showing this.
But Labour will not listen.

Coffee thoughts:

Ireland is a polity where you can go and visit a Minister in a constituency office on a weekend to ask for help filling in a form.

The distance to/from officeholders is effectively zero.

But the distance for most people from *power* can be (invisible to them) huge.

A really enjoyable read & great reporting from Orla O'Donnell. The judge schooled him in more ways than one. You know someone's serious when they break out a 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary for accuracy and remove the family from court before it even starts.

Enoch Burke has 'something to hide' over income - judge
A High Court judge has said teacher Enoch Burke and his family could be using his court case to make money and that it was clear Mr Burke had "something to hide" about his income.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

The true pleasure of Bluesky.
"When I look around, I see people who often took a big professional risk because they would not comply. In many cases, they had profiles they had built up for years. They let it go. They did this because they refused to extinguish their moral character."

Ireland caps political donations. The system is not foolproof but it has a strong protective effect certainly. See Sipo.ie for details.
Reform accepted £9 million from a former Boris Johnson backer & crypto-multimillionaire.

Today, Nigel Farage postures as a righteous defender of the same democracy he actively undermines.

Democracy should never be for sale. It's time for a cap on political donations.

I don't have *that* music app, so I can't share what I was listening to all year. I can share what I just listened to tonight. It is joyful.🥰 It is for you to enjoy. You are most welcome. ❤️
Ok, with this year being what it has, we all deserved and needed this today. Do yourself a favor and watch it. You deserve it.

Endemic in sub-tropics, but unheard of in Europe until the late '90s. Changing humidity and temperature allowed the infected midges to survive in ever more northerly areas.
