calling `RefCell` "interior mutability" is fucking stupid and unintuitive as to what role it actually serves
it moves responsibility for ensuring `x ref xor 1 mut` from the compiler to your code, whilst maintaining some semblance of guard rails (as opposed to just doing whatever pointer fuckery)

500% true, however older games have more *fun* glitches, as a direct result of explicit data layouts and being at the right level of complexity to be fun to unravel
