The first time I met Rogers, I didn't know who he was. I asked him what he did for a living and he said he was a caretaker.

I have always loved that.
20 years ago this week, Dean Rogers Govender was installed as the Dean of Manchester. We were delighted to be joined by many dignitaries from the city for the morning service.

The order of service included a hymn that the Dean requested for his installation - Beauty for Brokenness

In a service dating back to medieval times, was good to be part of the Chorister Bishop and Canons making service @yorkminster.bsky.social on Sunday (which alternates each year between girls & boys choirs electing a bishop). Best of all was being able to listen to Bishop Liam's cracking sermon.

I spent a number of years as a HIV nurse. By then, the meds meant people could live full lives, but the stigma still existed. And access to preventative measures & meds varies

This #WorldAidsDay, as I lead prayers at @mancathedral.bsky.social, I'll be praying for justice, awareness & reduced stigma

Last night I had an adventure, heading off to preach at Deanery service in Kenley.I did get rather lost walking from the station (country lane, no lights, no signal) but had a lovely time on arrival
Also loved the on screen typo "Hail thee as our MATHLESS King".
Knew God was on my side there 😀

Cracking bit of Geordie hymnody this morning, as we sang 'Rejoice, the Lord is King' at both churches:
"the keys of death and hell
are to wor Jesus given".

As I contemplate a sermon about prayer, I'm reminded of Mother Mary Clare, Reverend Mother of the Sisters of the Love of God in Oxford

She advised that the nuns were struggling to find words to pray, they could simply say

'Here I am God, what a mess'

I've used that advice a lot over the years

Today we remembered the life of Mandy, my PA, who died suddenly recently. Full of faith Mandy was a beloved pastor to the archdeaconry. Please hold her husband, son & all of us who mourn in prayer.

Some years ago Mandy chose this reading to be read at her funeral with each mourner getting a fork!

It was a gigantic honour to unveil the new English Heritage Blue Plaque on the Pimlico home of one my absolute favourite novelists, Barbara Pym. She lived there just after World War Two. Thanks so much to the @BarbaraPymSociety for these 📷 and for a wonderful tea! I'll treasure my memories.
