They're not trying to convince anyone of anything. They're trying to give their base lies to repeat down at the legion, or at work, or at poker night. Maga are on board no matter what. They just need the official line. Very few people believe what is being said but that's not the point.

The most demoralizing part about all of this is seeing our elected representatives him and haw over this. If we somehow get through this whole thing I can't help but feel that nobody will be held accountable and then we'll all just move on as if it didn't happen. Waiting for the next time.

This is so obviously an execution by some sick fuck roaming Minneapolis hoping to kill someone. Looking for just enough reason. He has a gun! Didn't point it at us, didn't threaten us with it, didn't draw it, didn't even brandish it.... Good enough though. The state news is already spinning.
The gun was removed by agents from his waistband - he was never pointing it at them. He was already disarmed when they fired "defensive shots," killing the man. They then fired several shots at his lifeless body.
