Individual members of the public are seen as fair game now for the kind of all-channels monstering that would once have been dished out to union leaders, bent MPs or female celebs with drug habits, and not even for doing crimes but just for going about their daily lives.

I urge you to note here how much of British politics and media - and indeed British culture in general - is just bullying, and little more. It’s a daily exercise in enforcing the social hierarchy by reminding everyone who they can and cannot kick. That’s why our most famous sitcoms are like that.

yeah the swastika was popular as a kinda-new age-y good luck symbol in the west ~1880-1930. Since you could sell it as either ancient indo-european or eastern (the same exoticism you see with Zen has today). Still lots of them carved into building facades or floors.
