"At once rousing and mournful and positively buzzing with the erotic friction of sin and salvation." It was my distinct pleasure to write about Belle & Sebastian's 1996 masterpiece "If You're Feeling Sinister" for Pitchfork, an LP which lit a path for outsiders like me. pitchfork.com/reviews/albu...

Death toll in Afghanistan when NATO answered the US’s call:
- 453 Britons
- 158 Canadians
- 89 French
- 59 Germans
- 53 Italians
- 44 Danes
- 17 Spaniards
“Stayed a little back, off the front lines “!
No one in the media will call him out over this lie or any of the others he spouts.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

this guy was almost attorney general of the United States and he would have been if he’d been slightly less of an asshole to his Republican colleagues
The House Ethics Committee found that Matt Gaetz did all of the horrible things previously claimed—sex trafficking minors, prostitution (including of minors), drugs, drunk driving, obstruction, the works. The Florida Bulldog has secured and published the House report this evening.

If ICE is now training new officers that they can forcibly enter residences based on an administrative warrant, "more training" is not the solution to our ICE problems.

#SCOTUS is likely to do the right thing in the Lisa Cook case.

But it's worth bearing in mind that this idea that the Fed is some bespoke exception to the unitary executive theory is utterly incoherent as a matter of both law and history—and is really just proof that the UET is itself bollocks:
153. Living by the Ipse Dixit
A constitutional principle like the "unitary executive theory" isn't worth all that much if the Supreme Court can conjure new, unprincipled exceptions to it by simply asserting that they exist.

Begging people to read articles. Democrats make a pretty clear case that ICE has all the funding it needs from the “big beautiful bill” and so the most leverage they have are riders for body cameras.

ICE is bottlenecked by recruits, not funding. Bodycams are a good trade for nothing substantial.

I find baffling this Pizza Hut commercial featuring Tom Brady. In it, Brady says that he misses yelling “hike!” So he started delivering pizzas presumably so he can yell “hike!” again. But this is not something I’ve heard from any delivery person before. Did they have Chat GPT write the script?

This is important & revealing. Gallego is from AZ. He ran to the right of Dems in 2024 on immigration. The fact he's saying this speaks volumes. He sees where the public is on ICE. Tear it down. Build another non-police-state-freak-show immigration enforcement agency.
Arizona’s @gallego.senate.gov : "I think ICE needs to be totally torn down… People want immigration enforcement that goes after criminals, not the goon squad that has come from Stephen Miller and Trump."
