Trying to be better. Looking at how to pick apart kyriarchy. Intersectionality = win. Same handle on the Bird Hellsite (old Hellsite posts at @archivingally.bsky.social). He/him/his.

i didn’t think karoline leavitt could be more despicable, but finding out she says the shit she says about immigrants and knowing her nephew’s mother was part of DACA is a new level of sick.

Ironically that fact is itself very enjoyable.

I think it’s extremely funny there’s an entire legion of guys who hate everything they used to enjoy because they can’t stop fighting woke ghosts.

Seriously, I feel like the internet has destroyed the ability of multiple generations to just be able to enjoy things.

However vexing Stancil can be, the people who've made hating him their entire personality are infinitely more annoying. The sheer force of their hatred has long ago outstripped anything the man's actually said or done, and this is just another wacky example.

I’d say that at the academic level, we have more of a grasp on consciousness & especially its intermediate states and non-language states than the layman knows. Some of that is technology — we can keep people alive and see brains working — but most is just deep science and that dude’s unequipped.

I’m all for scientists considering and pursuing theories that don’t align with what i personally think about particular technologies, that’s how science should work, I just think the research question of “why can’t we objectively prove a HUMAN is conscious” needs to be answered first

what I want to know is, what is it about human brains that keeps us from having a sufficiently embodied sense of our own consciousness to differentiate it from an advanced simulation of human responses to text on a screen?

(I, on the basis of no evidence, blame the default mode network)
