Ah yes, who can forget the Hitler-Stalin-Truman summit that we still celebrate every 8 May, Negotiated Settlement in Europe Day. Or when Emperor Hirohito and Truman cordially met in Hawaii to agree mutual territorial concessions and end the war. Those were the good old days.

World War II ended with Russian troops using tanks and rifles to negotiate their way into Berlin, a bullet negotiating its way into Hitler's skull, and an atomic bomb negotiating its way onto Hiroshima. But it did not end with Churchill and FDR negotiating to give Hitler big chunks of Poland.
JD Vance: "This is how wars ultimately get settled. If you go back to World War 2, if you go back to every major conflict in human history, they all end with some kind of negotiation."

It continues to surprise me how many Canadian and European decision makers are a) unaware of how bad the situation inside the US is, and b) deny the internal context has much to do with the foreign policy context
Too much attention in Europe being paid to Trump's incoherently futile diplomacy and not enough to his dangerously destabilising actions in US domestic politics

1/5 Putin’s russia and Hitler’s Germany—more alike than you think.

Putin invaded Ukraine claiming to “protect russians”—just like Hitler claimed to protect ethnic Germans in Poland and Czechoslovakia.

Same playbook: invent a threat, justify aggression

Be strong, my friends. You're not alone!

Putin: Western Europe is, in fact, deprived of sovereignty, while for Russia the loss of sovereignty would mean the end of the country's existence.

People need to understand what's happening today: Trump sent the FBI to investigate one of his most prominent critics, and then threatened to military occupy multiple US cities.

He's trying to become a full dictator who makes it illegal to oppose him.
That was one of the most batshit press conferences of Trump's public life. He brandished a photo of Putin and promised to deploy the US military to occupy Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. A sane country would be moving toward impeachment and removal right now.

Trump’s rambling and total lack of understanding of the region ‘it’s totally stupid’, has only fueled more attacks on Ukraine, not less. From bragging he’d end the war in 24hrs to bailing out and blaming Biden, he’s weak, confused, and dangerous. For us in Ukraine, there’s no choice.

The Axis of Evil.
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini thanked Donald Trump for his strong reaction to the Druzhba pipeline strike, noting Trump’s opposition to the Ukrainian attack on infrastructure important for Slovakia. Pellegrini also said he expects support from EU partners.

21 residential buildings, 5 administrative buildings, a mall, infrastructure object, gas pipelines and other objects damaged.

One of the bombs hit a residential building directly (you can see it on the photo).

The mural Milana in Mariupol portrayed a 6yo girl. In 2015, russian shelling of the district where her family lived killed her mother and left the child severely injured, leading to the amputation of her leg. This painting celebrated Ukrainian resilience.

In Nov 2022, russians demolished the mural.

Every Russian accusation is a projection.

It's the "Uno Reverse" doctrine of Russian propaganda: They look in the mirror and blame whatever they see on others.

Russia has a Nazi policy of exterminating everything Ukrainian. So that's what they claim Ukraine is doing to Russians.
🤡 Russian MFA: Ukraine's true independence can only be discussed once Kyiv stops its neo-Nazi policy of exterminating everything Russian.

That is Ukraine’s strongest security guarantee. If it can field 3,000 to 5,000 of these (and similar) missiles, ready within 24 to 48 hours to destroy upward of 25% of Russia’s economic output, further Russian aggression becomes untenable.
