The Sixth is hands down the best documentary I've seen about what happened 5 years ago in Washington, DC, on January 6th. It's thoughtful, measured, and very well-crafted.

Highly recommended! Streaming on Prime Video & Apple TV.

Typically when the US embarks on an illegal or dubiously legal regime change we use noble words about democracy, rule of law, spreading freedom, etc. to justify our actions. Trump has not done that. He offers few noble words as eulogistic covering. It's a crass power & oil grab, according to Trump.

mexico is one of our two largest trading partners, a democracy with 130 million people, where the president won 61% of the vote in the last election. trump is literally threatening a decapitation strike against her. this is utter insanity, it's like saying we're going to airstrike Keir Starmer

the trump administration is living inside a social media dreamworld where the US is literally all-powerful and can do anything it wants to anyone it wants, and the US media, rather than pointing out this is deranged madness, is trying to demonstrate its neutrality by dignifying the fantasy

I think this administration has vastly overestimated the rest of the world's willingness to put up with imperial oil war bullshit right now. I don't think this ends well. No war.

If your position is that regime change should be forced on countries where the president does not respect democratic norms and regularly kidnaps opponents using an officially sanctioned paramiliatary, have I got news for you about your position on the United States

The pardons were extraordinary and unusual because they were premised on expecting the incoming administration to be lawless, corrupt, and authoritarian. And that was obviously correct. Erecting as many barriers and hurdles as possible was not only the right thing to do, it was Biden's duty.

SCOTUS just rejected Trump’s illegal deployment of the National Guard in Chicago, confirming what we knew all along - that turning the military on the American people is a disgusting misuse of our armed forces.

We got lucky this time, but our checks and balances remain under immense strain.
NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

I mean yeah it’s an authoritarian takeover but can we take some comfort in the fact that the people doing it are INSANELY stupid?

If donald trump wants people from Norway (read white) to migrate here, he should understand just why they won’t. It’s affordable.

They’re not socialist. But market capitalists economies with extensive social welfare systems.

It’s referred to as the Nordic model or social democracy #USDemocracy

The Department of Justice failed to publicly release all of its files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein by a Friday deadline, violating a new federal law explicitly mandating that the trove of documents be turned over for public scrutiny, Republican and Democratic lawmakers said.

Yeah I'm SUPER shocked the DOJ is violating the law and not releasing all the Epstein files. WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED they'd continue to protect pedophiles??

Everyone. Everyone guessed.

I suggest we follow the precedent of the Ancient Romans and damn his memory. Damnatio memoriae, occurred when a person's presence was officially erased from history following their political failure or death. The goal was to exclude the individual from official accounts & public consciousness.

Trump sent Vance there twice. He threatened to cut off all federal spending to the state. He vowed to back primary challengers of any Republican who voted against him here. He posted their names online, prompting his fans to send them death threats.

But all that failed, so now he wasn't involved.
Reporter: The senate in Indiana voted against the redistricting effort.

Trump: I wasn't working on it very hard. I wasn't very much involved
