Found a small box containing a stack of neatly ripped squares of unused scrap paper, all the same size, made of documents I recognise from 10 years ago. I have since moved apartments.

I guess for one reason or another, I couldn't bear to part with my emotional support scrap paper collection.

Probably late to this party but the Liquid Glass iOS update is fucking horrible, especially from an accessibility perspective.

The keyboard buttons are tiny and even though I darkened the "glass", I still feel like my eyes are straining harder to read. Well, any excuse to get off my phone I guess?

Everyone seems to be doing 2016 throwbacks (to distract from the current horrors?) but lately I've been indulging in some nostalgia for January 2010, for some reason.

Here are the albums I was jamming on my iPod Classic dock in my 1st-year dorm room (Beach House have grown into prob my fave band):

My iPhone compiled a slideshow of what appeared to be cat pictures, but then randomly in the middle a selfie from years ago of me with pools of mascara down my cheeks after crying

Looking northeast in Berlin, I can see Jupiter VERY brightly in the sky. The needle of light that appears to be crossing through it must be its moons! 🧡

TIL the Oberbaumbrücke in Berlin actually has nothing to do with trees, "Baum" can also mean "boom" which is some nautical thing

Being woken up at 10pm just as I was falling asleep

By the 2nd public warning alarm of the day???

For an all-clear message that is several hours late???

In this local and global news cycle???

Is not fucking funny

I've been wanting to pivot from Goodreads but could never get into Storygraph. Just signed up to Pagebound.

The ethos seems pretty solid and the UI is light years better than either of the others... but first let's see how well my Goodreads export was transferred lol

Just did my first git push of 2026!

Hoping that this year I can find some joy in my personal code projects again, given how dire you-know-what is making everything feel

I have pretty given up on making "best of" lists, but my fave 2025 music releases:

CMAT - Euro-Country
(adore her persona, can't wait to see her in March)

Patrick Wolf - Crying the Neck
(it was his comeback, so I was very invested... didn't disappoint)

Yay for Irish(-descendant) concept albums!

It's possible I'm just in a bubble, but I've been pleasantly surprised to find more explicit "yeah enough is enough" resistance to it this year, and almost no "I get the point, but Tradition"
Christmas is over, now for the next season:

Being reminded that not everyone thinks fireworks are morally reprehensible, and mentally preparing oneself for the purge (which here in Berlin will inevitably not be for one night only)

Some of us can't "just go somewhere else for the night"

3 eps in, and you may laugh, but this is the first season of Emily in Paris where I’ve thought Christ this is dogshit (I enjoy the silliness usually)

Boring, characters don’t act like themselves, truly nonsensical dialogue. Are the creators really phoning it in that much or did they just use AI?

Stop sharing Politico. They are run by an AfD member whose Trumpist views directly inform their low quality of reporting.

I bought some silver hoop earrings. Only later when I got home did I notice that the clasp on one of them was stuck together (wouldn't have been able to return it anyway).

Had the idea to try and fix it with a lighter and tweezers. Took two minutes, feeling like a boss!

My kids woke up so excited this morning for the first night of Hannukah and now yet again we have a festival where I’m very conflicted about whether it’s safe to take them to synagogue to celebrate. Communities shouldn’t have to live like this.

Apple Music does not have to calculate a “listening age” because everyone who uses Apple Music is roughly 34 years old
