I just found out that my wife doesn't like the smell of gasoline, and I love the smell of gasoline. How are we married for almost 12 years?

ADHD blunder: We were making borscht. First, my wife cut herself on the peeler so I took over, and then I cut myself on the grater. I blame the tiny beets. (We had to Amazing Race the kitty litter that night, me using my left hand and they, their right.)

A haunted automaton sends Dien, a buoyant go-for-broke synthetic-being, and Hux, a meek dropout cop, to a burnt down mansion in pursuit of a murderer, who holds the mirror to their own humanity.
(There is way too many commas lol, don't come for me, I'll worry about that later.)
Time to eat your vegetables again y'all! What's a one-sentence elevator pitch for your book? If you need help, [thing] meets [thing] is a great baseline. #WritingPrompt
