In a chapter, I once wrote that these "unlikely" alliances have been making headlines. When something keeps happening across five decades, it's not "unlikely" anymore. This is routine because left/right doesn't matter at the extremes of gender essentialism.
The alliance between radfems & right-wingers isn't new though, the same radfems have been working with conservatives for decades now. Radfems being against surrogacy isn't new either, Janice Raymond was writing about it in the 80s! Really wish this info was more well known.

It looks like that BBC page has been updated in the last few minutes, so that's no longer the last sentence. I think part of it has been moved to this paragraph in the middle of the article, and the age is no longer mentioned:
