We prescribe medication after medication to prevent serious heart events—and while these are needed, we often miss the simplest prevention measure: a flu shot. Vaccination is linked to ~50% fewer cardiovascular events in people with heart disease.

1) A meta-analysis of RCTs of oral Abx for CAP found:
"oral antibiotic therapy had a beneficial effect on the risk of all-cause mortality (RR, 0.58; 95% CI, 0.35–0.96; P = 0.034)."

Which is pretty amazing, and parallels suggestive findings of bacteremia and endocarditis RCTs.

Diagnosis of Prosthetic Joint Infection of Hips and Knees - One Size Does Not Fit All
This study evaluated IDSA, ICM2018, and EBJIS criteria, finding IDSA most accurate for early PJI and knee infections, while ICM2018 and EBJIS were superior for delayed and late cases. Diagnostic approaches should consider infection timing and context.

Characteristics of clinics offering non-traditional Lyme disease therapies in Lyme endemic states of the US
In this cross-sectional analysis, we analyzed 117 US clinics in Lyme endemic states that provide non-traditional care for Lyme disease. We found that unproven therapies are routinely offered, and some therapies raise safety concerns. The cost of care can be high, which may lead to significant out-of-pocket expenditures for patients.
