Look, I know this weaponization of male academic interest is the oldest story in the book, but it’s just so, so pernicious. It’s awful to the women directly involved, but it’s also awful to *all* women in the academy, who have to live in its shadow all the time.

“net worth held by top 0.1% of households in the U.S. reached $23.3 trillion this year, from $10.7 trillion a decade earlier…car elevators deliver residents straight up to their homes and deposit vehicles in adjoining “sky garages,” avoiding need to deal with parking valets and reception areas.”

NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

This is painted by my maternal second cousin’s daughter… I did not inherit my maternal side #creativity talent gene, why I had to settle for a degree in medicine 😂
But may be why I do enjoy #arthistory and #artmuseums, coded in my DNA somewhere to enjoy the talent of my nieces!

reason I hate #MKSAP #oncology questions - am I ever going to personally prescribe imatinib as adjuvant therapy for a gastrointestinal stromal tumor? NOPE. These questions are to test oncologists, not general internists.
All I need to know is side effects of the meds, not which tumors to use them in

I’m a Black cancer survivor. Took white doctors 6 months to diagnose me.

Medical racism is part of the reason Black Women die during childbirth, at multiple times the rate of their white counterparts. They’d never let [a crowning!] white women wail and scream like this..

And invite candidates to parties in said hotel rooms, sometimes not even suites, that you felt obligated to attend even though it was so uncomfortable and you would inevitably get waylaid when trying to leave by an emeritus hanging in the doorway who wanted to talk about Beasts of the Southern Wild.
If you are not in academia, you might not know this, but job interviews used to be held at conferences IN HOTEL ROOMS. Women candidates in a hotel room alone with often all-male committees. People sitting on beds! The horror stories I've heard.
I thing I sometimes thing about is that university departments were still doing job interviews in hotel rooms in the mid aughts

Even if gas costs are down, you can’t eat gasoline 🙄
KARL: The president claims that Thanksgiving costs are down 25%. Does he know that's not true?

HASSETT: Well if you look at Walmart--

KARL: Wait a minute. I've gotta stop you. The Walmart package this year contains much less than the one last year. That's why the price is less.

RFK jrs death toll will reverberate for decades, given how much damage he has done to vaccination as a project: and watching US journalists hail Olivia Nuzzi as ‘brave’ for trying to profit off her affair with him is making me want to actually hurl
Having a romantic relationship with an awful person who has gotten children killed with his anti-vaxx views and policies doesn’t even enter the equation for these people, it’s all a game

i think online gambling is a cancer that is spreading throughout our society, it was a horrible mistake to de-regulate it, and we desperately need to crack down on it again
i can’t talk about sports gambling anymore without sounding like a crank but i do believe legalized sports gambling is like 15-20% responsible for our current dystopia
The Athletic polled hundreds of players from across the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL about their opinions surrounding how sports betting impacts players — the responses were haunting.

“Forty percent of American women and girls age 15 to 45 say they want to permanently move to another country — an opinion shared by just 19 percent of boys and men that age.” 45% of single women.

Both of my 20-something daughters agree, and one of them is actually leaving.
If not for Covid I'd be living in Pizzo, Italy now. Kinda makes sense for younger women. When the "leader" is a raping pedo & the party protects him America will become land of the fee, home of the rape.

If women are underrepresented in STEM, it's at least partly because men like this offer mentoring, then embarrass themselves by assuming their mentees must be into them, then decide the best solution is to cut ties, which sends the signal to other faculty that the mentee must not be good enough.
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

Rudy Bridges is younger than the Sitting President of the United States and 29 sitting United States Senators
It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

I think it is a stretch to make the assumption that companies who can see how much price raises #consumers can tolerate will actually bring prices down with eliminating #tariffs.

I hate both cities so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’d rather live in Fargo, ND than either of them.

I’m built for small town life, though I hate driving and love subways. I know, internal contradiction [you can do it in Switzerland though! Tiny mountain villages on high tech rail lines 😭]
L.A. and NYC are vastly different places that cater to different types of people, and that's fine. I personally do not like L.A. and would never live there; I understand why people say the same about NYC even though I disagree with them. Calling NYC a "tiny high school" is objectively wrong, though.
