Slightly more niche, but I still retain the very polite reply from Mick Wadsworth (manager of the now defunct Scarborough FC) after altering him to the possibilities of the Bosman case. Despite the polite, cheerful dismissal it was only a year later we had 🇫🇷 🇳🇱 and 🇮🇹 players in the squad. #justsaying
Throwing away old papers, I find that almost 30 years ago I sent a fax (no, really) to Glenn Hoddle at #Chelsea. I have no idea what I said to him.

Tonight's entertainment was provided by Mercury Rev. Took me a while to get into the newer material, but spot on once we hit some good late 90s standards?

Fabulous stuff from Anna Erhard tonight. Clever, irreverent, genre-defying. Left with the biggest smile. Highly recommended.

Interesting to see how the jurisdictional issues play out here. Not unusual in sports cases for EU law to be applied apparently externally where the impact of any issue manifests internally: Walrave (competition outside EU) and Bosman (regulator outside EU) as obvious examples.

The Beeb confused about why clubs might be less than keen to bring Giggs on board. Digging deeper, it turns out lots of women now enjoy football and might be annoyed by him. Sheesh. Ryan Giggs - what happened? - www.bbc.com/sport/footba...
Ryan Giggs: What happened to coaching career of Man Utd icon?
BBC sports editor Dan Roan asks what happened to the coaching career of former Manchester United player and Wales manager Ryan Giggs.

This is what I'm here for...

Hart took me back 30 years, and reawakened the pain of a first year jurisprudence module 😱
Ok this is doubly unoriginal now, but the other place is falling apart and like a much sampled rare 70s funk record I need to protect my ip rights, plus it's Friday guys so here (again) is a thread on:

Here's a starter pack of Public and Constitutional Law BSky accounts. It's mostly UK and Commonwealth lawyers/blogs, including some parliamentary people and govt lawyers. I've got a much longer list too (which includes US lawyers/blogs)

1) No current projects: combined lack of required intellectual/emotional energy and too much teaching (NB I LOVE teaching) Box files of half-started/finished stuff await reinvigoration.
2) Ideas around judicial deference and judicial restraint which influence the way the courts interact with sport.
Bluesky academics, lets get to know each other! Quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren’t working on but keep thinking about

1) how does life stage influence how economics matters politically?
2. How has income as a measure messed up pol sci?

A murky afternoon in Alfreton. A point won, despite the efforts of eleven very large men intent on launching the ball into orbit, and a very small man with a whistle intent on being important.

I may be unduly generous, or naïve, or both, but the levels of opprobrium being leveled at Starmer from the pro-EU lobby re: the UK/EU relationship seem to me unjustified. Baby steps, rebuilding relationships and earning trust as a reliable international partner are essential precursors to any deal.

Mr. Kenobi has referred to Mos Eisley as a "wretched hive of scum and villainy." But we sat down with some patrons at a local cantina and they painted a very different picture of life in the the struggling spaceport town and explained why they continue to support Mr. Jabba's leadership.

I'd second this, fwiw. Every expert analysis I've seen of how toxicity spreads on X notes that any engagement with the toxin, even as rebuttal, ridicule, pillory, is just a variant of amplification. Block the bad, share the good is what works.

Just block them
