Rumor is that Waddle spent over $500,000 on lobbyists and Gobble offered Trump a 25% stake in a new crypto venture before they were granted pardons.

May come as a surprise to President Spontaneous J. Bonespurs that troops don't fight v well when they can't put into words what they're supposed to be fighting for.
Usually when you send your troops into a war you at least pretend to give them a moral justification. You know, so they don’t immediately fall into depression and hopelessness.

Highlights the fundamental flaw with "AI". It is a marketing gimmick disguised as "science", whose "free" products are the users it manipulates.

The gimmick is to *appear* to provide to every question a plausible seeming answer that *appears* to resemble what an actual human expert might say.
"An audit of the top 10 generative AI models revealed that the non-response rates of chatbots went down from 31% in August 2024 to 0% in August 2025. At the same time, the chatbots’ likelihood of repeating false information almost doubled from 18% to 35%."

Points 16-20 could usefully be replaced w/ a single point:

"Russia and Ukraine will return all territories they have seized in war back to each other; or if either state retains control of any seized land, the other state shall take possession of any equal sized territory that they may choose.

This is how you destroy science and research in the country
The administration is building a legal pathway for ad hoc grant terminations:

"if the agency determines that the award no longer effectuates the program goals or agency priorities"

Converting multiyear grants to 'at whim' coin flips will undermine the stability & leadership of American science.
Update on a significant development NIH grant terms.

On 10/1, a change to grant making regs went into effect that gives NIH more power to terminate grants for policy reasons.

But to use this power, new grant terms must include specific language. See @aniloza.bsky.social w/ the story from July.

CBP is creating a domestic surveillance state to rival China's. This great AP report shows that CBP has abused the alarmingly broad but supposedly temporary powers granted to it to establish a national surveillance system. It hides behind local police, who get to harass & jail drivers arbitrarily.
Border Patrol is monitoring US drivers and detaining those with 'suspicious' travel patterns
The U.S. Border Patrol is monitoring millions of American drivers nationwide in a secretive program to identify and detain people whose travel patterns it deems suspicious.

European political scientists are blue in the face from constantly pointing out that accommodating the far right does not help centre-left parties win, and contributes to the rise of far-right parties. There's a mountain of data to support that.

But no, the galaxy-brained strategists must be right.

That's why we need to think about how to prosecute them for fraud.
