Measles is doing well so that’s something.
The spread of measles in the Southwest now constitutes the largest single outbreak since the U.S. declared the disease eliminated in 2000, federal scientists told state officials in a meeting on Monday.
Measles Surge in Southwest Is Now the Largest Single Outbreak Since 2000
Growing case numbers suggest that national total will surpass that seen during the last large outbreak in 2019.

What is dumber as an economic policy… tariffs or rent control?

Very worth reading. We need thoughtful leaders on our City Council and Molly Coleman looks like an unusually good fit for the job.

I am very pleased to see Governor Walz call state workers back half time. This is better for productivity, mentorship of young employees, culture, and for our downtowns.

Does anyone still think legal THC was a good idea? The evidence is profoundly strong that it was a huge mistake. Can we go back?

Many people here complain about “mainstream” media because it “normalized Trump.” Maybe treating him like a real candidate who had real supprt and would implement real policies was accurate journalism. Seems like it now.

I don’t agree with the vast majority of policies going into place but I realize now how unimaginative and incremental progressives are.

200 years of learning how to regulate banks and securities in America and we’re about to set it all on fire because crypto is innovative. The innovation is: no regulation.

We have to acknowledge that our vision for what government can accomplish is diminished when we execute poorly.

Public school failures and public transit failures in Minnesota make it seem like we can only do small things.

If you want to know how well government will do regulating AI, just look at how great a job it did regulating social media.

If you are an elected/ appointed official over 70 (probably 65), DO NOT run for reelection. It’s time to pass the baton and not be a greedy, out of date, legacy who blew the ladder up after you climbed it.

This is not hard. If you work for one of these people, advise them appropriately.

Thanks!
I wonder what our government could be if it wasn't operating as an assisted living facility for a number of our elected officials.

Both parties, yes, have this problem.

My biggest frustration with policy making over the past decade is to see policy ideas like rent control that have a lot of emotional appeal take hold even though they are proven to hurt the very people they are supposed to help.

Policy makers need to read more and talk to fewer activist zealots.

The obvious strategy for democrats is to acknowledge that anti-vaxx is still an unpopular stance and partner with pro-vaccine republicans to scuttle the RFK Jr. nomination

Democrats should be talking nonstop about how RFK Jr. fueled a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed dozens of kids!

It is so hard to start and to succeed as an employer. We need more people in politics and government who have authentic empathy about this. Otherwise, we scare off and/or harm the most vulnerable employers.

I don’t know if I agree with all of the NYT reporting here but we all know homelessness has sky rocketed.

We shouldn’t have any homelessness in America.

Can we:
A) Build enough housing
B) Make private housing an entitlement (bed, kitchen, private bathroom)
C) Make it illegal to live outside
Breaking News: Homelessness in the U.S. hit a record level in 2024, driven by a surge in migrants, a housing crisis and an end to pandemic-era measures. nyti.ms/3PdWGAl

Ms. Lujan Grisham, 65, said her state must face a hard truth: Mentally ill or drug-addicted people living on the streets must be compelled to get help.

My view: If you use fentanyl, you give up your right to live on your own. Drug-addicted zombies belong in mandatory rehab until on a better path.
