I cringe reading the justification the RFK Jr allies doing the trial are using

They say: “Guinea-Bissau isn’t rolling out the birth dose until next year, so it’s ethical to deny the birth dose to half the babies”

Nope—See @boghuma.bsky.social’s superb piece

Yup—it is absolutely unconscionable that these researchers would knowingly and deliberately do this:

“To consign 1,425 infants to almost certain (70%-90%) Hepatitis B infection (and the chronic liver disease that eventually follows) is unthinkable.”

Knowingly do this to vulnerable kids? Grotesque
Future ethics in medical research students- get a head start on your syllabus and read it now. Because this will be taught as an example of unethical research 👇🏻

You would think it would be disappointing...
It is surely disappointing that Carney is not doing what Canadians elected him to do. Especially since our only other viable leadership option’s unquestionably worse. But we have to face the fact that not only is Carney not as advertised, but that left unchecked he will end up chaining us to the US.

Absolutely correct.
Bigger picture, for Canadians 2026 will be about coming to terms with the increasingly undeniable evidence that Mark Carney is delivering almost the exact opposite of what he promised in his leadership and election campaigns.
my latest in yesterday’s paper now online:

“We’re no more than vassal state of the US if the Canadian digital experience is shaped by the ethos, values, and whims not only of the Trump administration but of the Big Tech oligarchs that have Trump’s ear as well.”

Quite frankly, it’s outrageous that Mark Carney is cutting Statistics Canada. If he was Stephen Harper or Pierre Poilievre, I feel like this would be getting a lot more backlash.

Carney of all people should know the importance of high-quality data and information about the country.
