Here's my latest for @nationalobserver.com on how dumb the entire debate on Bill C-9 (hate speech legislation) has been www.nationalobserver.com/2025/12/09/o...
Conservatives choose rage-bait over real debate on hate speech
The party's criticisms of an agreement between the Liberals and Bloc Québécois on Bill C-9 could have been legitimate and substantive. Instead, they chose to rile up their supporters by lying to them.

For the feds, what the MOU means depends on who you are talking to on any given day, which is as much a comms problem as it is a substantive policy problem if it leaves industry, potential investors & even government MPs confused, writes @supriya.bsky.social
www.nationalobserver.com/2025/12/03/o...
Liberals leave everyone confused with mixed MOU messaging
Since signing the agreement with Alberta last week, the messaging from federal Liberals has been at best somewhat muddled, and at worst painfully at odds with the text of the deal.

“The reaction to the word feminist in Canada’s foreign policy or elsewhere is seen as a rejection of the term itself, but will likely result in a rejection of the project that relies on equality to build the kind of societies of security and prosperity we all want.”

Well, the Liberals still need one more “yes” vote to avoid that (or two abstentions), making the vote that’s taking place in two hours a real nail-biter.
