My (thus-far-successful) battle with Stage 3 colon cancer 6 years ago taught me the truth of these words by Tatiana Schlossberg:

"I have never encountered a group of people who are more competent, more full of grace and empathy, more willing to serve others than nurses. Nurses should take over."
A Battle with My Blood
When I was diagnosed with leukemia, my first thought was that this couldn’t be happening to me, to my family.

Sen. Roger Wicker, a Mississippi Republican who has long defended Trump, is ripping the president's "so-called 'peace plan.'"

"Ukraine should not be forced to give up its lands to one of the world’s most flagrant war criminals in Vladimir Putin,” Wicker says.

This is my experience too. As internet researchers were cut off at the knees for studying this shitshow, there's now even fewer levers to pull to throttle hate, harassment, fraud, and incitement on social media.
Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

Me on DOJ’s behavior: “it’s malevolence *exacerbated* by incompetence. That’s problematic enough for the government’s credibility before federal district judges. But at some point soon, one suspects that the Supreme Court itself may well have to grapple with its consequences—or risk being duped.”
194. Another Bad Week for the Presumption of Regularity
Three different flashpoints highlight how much the Trump administration has done, in such short order, to undermine its own litigation efforts and to damage—perhaps irreparably—DOJ's credibility.

For all the juice Bluesky has, for all the love we are feeling from you today (and every day), make no mistake: This fundraiser is a big, big lift. If you feel able, can you talk to a less-online liberal and let them know this is happening?

We are trying to build something that cannot be ignored.

ICE arrested outstanding journalist @davedeckerphoto.bsky.social while he was on assignment covering protests at the facility in Miami. Throw him some money please because as a freelancer he doesn't have the legal support backing a full-timer would and we need to continue fighting for a free press.

To paraphrase what an ICE field director said at a Texas hiring event earlier this year: what makes ICE different from other law enforcement officers is that we catch criminals "before" a crime is committed.
NEW: ICE has finally released post-shutdown detention data. The latest data reveals that a full 40%(!) of people arrested in the interior and held in ICE detention have no criminal record; no criminal charges or prior convictions. That is up from just 4% when Trump took office.

They truly believe this! Like when they arrest a noncitizen who committed a crime years ago and has been out of prison for a decade, they put out a press release claiming they saved the public from a serious threat, even if the person has been law-abiding for years and is a random ex-con doing well.

You mean Mr. #Trump is going to start a #war?
This should be a much bigger better story than it is
Congress better do something about an unauthorized war.
Nobody wants to be in a war.

Somebody stop him for fuck’s sake.

Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with intellectual disabilities, wandered away from his mom’s fruit stand in October.

She reported him missing to Houston police. But instead of reuniting them, the city turned him over to ICE.

“They’re failing all of us,” his mom said.

The party's candidates pushed issues regarding test scores and bus safety over debates about which bathrooms transgender students use and banning books from school libraries.

Was any evidence released that these were actual valid targets of drug runners or terrorists, or were they just blowing random boats out of the water? I would not be surprised to learn that the targets were legit fishing boats or families on pleasure cruises.
Before a single strike, several lawyers raised red flags:
• No self-defense justification
• No organized armed group attacking Americans
• No legal basis for killing civilians

These concerns were documented and ignored — they appear to have been executions.
