The history of civilian mass detention on the basis of identity without due process or recourse (which is how I defined concentration camps in my history of them) shows that it invariably leads to permanent harm—and typically significant loss of life as well. The longer it goes on the worse it gets.
As detention expands, conditions get worse, thanks to overcrowding and the chaotic transfers of people all over the country.

ICE detention has always had problems, but they're worse than ever now and the impact is clear. Deaths hit a record level in 2025, and 2026 is already looking to be worse.
The detention system has grown so rapidly that already harmful conditions have worsened.

Thousands of immigrants arrested in the interior are detained in hastily built tent camps, where conditions are brutal.

More people died in ICE detention in 2025 than in the past four years combined.

They’ve learned that if they lie confidently enough and often enough, enough media/social media falls in line. And that’s enough. Propaganda is enough to win. But whether it’s enough to maintain unreality in the face of so much cognitive dissonance is now the bigger question.
Despite years of "economic anxiety" discourse, the core drivers of Trump support have always been bigotry and misinformation.

This is a pretty severe escalation from CBS, just straight up lying like this.
BREAKING: The ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Good last week in Minneapolis, Jonathan Ross, suffered internal bleeding to the torso following the incident, according to two U.S. officials briefed on his medical condition.

Where is the outrage about schools having to close now, due to ICE/CBP attacks (with no end in sight)? No concerns about learning loss? It’s bad to have to close for public health reasons, but not because our society is being ripped apart at the seams, and our government is attacking us?

But this one hit today.

And she's right! We're not dealing with some foreign ideology. We're dealing with a uniquely American phenomenon.

“People are getting kidnapped where they work. People are getting taken away when they're cleaning snow out of their cars. My son's school, 25 people, only r people showed up yesterday. People are afraid to do their groceries. People are afraid to go to work.

“We are not safe. We are under attack”
There is a longer version of the video of a kidnapping of this kid - there really is no other word for it - here. As he is being shoved into the DHS vehicle he breaks down. At about the 2 minute mark you hear a DHS agent say "wow - fucking child" sarcastically.

Any Democratic votes to fund DHS later this month as Minneapolis is being terrorized by DHS is going to be a major slap in the face to Americans living here. Demand major reforms or shut the government down.

They are unlawfully detaining people for First Amendment protected activities, as far as I can tell. Dragging people out of their vehicles absent witnessing a crime and without a judicial warrant is repugnant to our constitutional order.
New video shows ICE agents detaining a US citizen legal observer in Minneapolis.

The agents smashed his car window, dragged him out, and placed a knee on his neck.

I’m seeing lots of people on here misunderstand the purpose of ICE watch.

It’s de-escalation. And it’s grounded in the social science of violence. 🧵

Hey UK, please learn from US fascists. Ours are pretty explicit too, while media and commentary continue to dance around the blatant reality. These evil cretins already gave you brexit and race riots and want to make you more like (checks notes) the current US mess and Nazi Germany.
Ukip have submitted a new logo and slogan to the Electoral Commission, swapping the £ pound sterling symbol for a cross, that looks very much like it is modelled on the Iron Cross used by Prussia & Germany 1871-1918 and Hitler's Nazi regime from 1933-45

I was reading an article about the cancellation of food aid to Minnesota, and it reminded me of a story about my dad. He was a vet, an organizer and very deeply involved in his church. And one day he stood up and asked a question: “what the f*ck’s the point of having a church?”

One of the things I’ve learned from studying more history is that momentum matters, and that timescales for change are longer than single campaigns. Defund the Police laid the groundwork for Defund ICE and primed the center-left to better see it this time. Blinders off. Framework in place.
So many folks in progressive and liberal space have grown so accustomed to the idea that Defund was a failure, that Defund was an overreach, that they no longer seem able to even recognize that ICE is engaging in *exactly* the conduct Defund called out and warned about from police across the country

I’m starting to feel like maybe White Christian Nationalists aren’t basing their beliefs in Jesus’ teachings.
Police arrested volunteers for feeding hungry people in Kansas City after 13 years of doing it without incident. Nearby businesses complained, blamed immigrants, and threatened ICE. Two volunteers were charged with trespassing. Kansas City Food Not Bombs feeds 50–100 people weekly. More cruelty 🤬
