Likes: kindness & countryside; music & morality; decency & dunes; humour & hope, hopefully knowing when alliteration must simply stop
Dislikes: The obvious really. The antithesis of the above. Climate change denial/doomism is top.
Pinned
Life, love and hope – a 40-year-old tale evolves to engage with the world’s most pressing crisis: climate change.

Here's my story about a story:

Berwick-upon-Tweed, very close to the east coast border, which for some reason hits the North Sea a couple of miles north, ensuring the town is in Northumberland. But only since 1482.

Bamburgh, Northumberland.

Stunning and justifiably full of visitors.

Something's reminded me of the beautiful slow air by Tammy Anderson (1910-1991) Da Slockit Light, about migration in the 1960s from the rural areas of his homeland, Shetland.

Here's a nice version, evidently playing in the wild along with some noisy birds & Mull sheep.

The speed of sheep
Eventide for sheep in the slow lane at Bunessan, Ross of Mull. The music that was playing is "Da Slockit Licht" (The Lights are Out) written in 1969 by Tom Anderson (Shetland fiddler), performed by Paul Sartin & Benji Kirkpatrick, from the compilation album Folk Music of Scotland. I don't know who the birds or the sheep were..

Here's a couple of quick questions for Putin. Even though I'm fairly sure he's not one of my followers (though could be hiding out there), nevertheless word travels fast around here:

Q19. When Mac tells Happer he's watching the Aurora Borealis when & where does Happer say he last saw it himself?

Don’t you think we’ve reached (or are on the very edge of) a positive tipping point of many people, who are also voters & investors, saying: fuck it, we know what the problem is, we know what we need to do, never mind petrostates, trump & COP non-delivery, we’re just going to get on & do it? 😊

Yes.
The necessity for unanimous consensus, as against majority consensus, has become a major obstacle to so many areas of global & regional cooperation & decision making. Bullies, vested interests & idiots are allowed to prevail.

Come gather round people

Countries meeting in Brazil for two weeks could manage ONLY a VOLUNTARY agreement to BEGIN discussions on a roadmap to an EVENTUAL phase-out of fossil fuels, and they achieved this INCREMENTAL progress only in the teeth of IMPLACABLE OPPOSITION from OIL-PRODUCING countries.
