Likes: kindness & countryside; music & morality; decency & dunes; humour & hope, hopefully knowing when alliteration must simply stop
Dislikes: The obvious really. The antithesis of the above. Climate change denial/doomism is top.

Life, love and hope – a 40-year-old tale evolves to engage with the world’s most pressing crisis: climate change.

OK so not a massive take-up for my beach quiz.
Hardly surprising, a beach is a beach, is a beach.
But here are the locations:

Top right: Tobago Cays, Grenadines, Caribbean. Busy, busy.

There used to be wonderful coral - probably mostly bleached now 😢
Four widespread locations.
Which is the furthest north and which the furthest south?
Which is within 500 miles of the Equator?
Which is nearly 4,000 miles from the Equator?
Best guess answers on a Wish You Were Here postcard.

"Words, words. They're all we have to go on."
[Guildenstern]
RIP Sir Tom Stoppard

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Words fail some of us. Sometimes.

Sometimes even Words cannot substitute for Tears.

And they’ll all be lost if we don’t stop putting 50 billion + tonnes of CO2, mainly from fossil fuels, up into the atmosphere EVERY fucking year 😡

But tomorrow I’ll let you know where they are. Apart from one, I will never return to them. You can probably guess roughly where that one is 🥰

Excellent piece.
It’s so obvious that transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables is the solution & that vested interests do their damn desperate worst to delay & deflect from that indisputable FACT.
Incredibly disappointing that Gates takes the stance that he is, he could do so much better.

But the waters of The Minch, between the mainland & Eileanan Siar (the Western Isles) are not always benign and hold many tragic stories.

One of the worst is told in this Skipinnish song: The Iolaire

One of many pages relating to HMY Iolaire:

Skipinnish- Iolaire - Eden Court Inverness
Very moving song about the tragic sinking of HMY Iolaire on the 1st of January 1919.

Q21. Where was the first beach Mac mentions to Ben when he shows him the postcards?

A deadbeat dead boat is one that is "lazy, irresponsible and evades its responsibilities and obligations".

Relaxing on the beach after a hard life is what I'd call it.
