This is why I have real fucking problem with blithe criticisms of "polarization" or "congressional dysfunction." We have a Republican member blaming his colleague for being attacked.

The problem isn't polarization or dysfunction. It's the Republican Party.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

When violence is directed at Trump's opponents, he either encourages it, jokes about it or dismisses it.
After a man charged at Rep. Ilhan Omar and squirted a liquid at her, Trump said: "I think she's a fraud. She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her."
Trump is a disease on the American soul.

An interesting deep dive into the data. Please read it for yourself.

I think the right had a hard time gaining traction because we had already seen what happened to Renée Good & we could see for ourselves that the right’s response was complete bullshit.
Within 4 hours of ICE (actually CBP) killing Alex Pretti, the data suggested that the right wing spin machine was having trouble gaining traction, even on their home turf over on X.

Here's a Substack I wrote analyzing X data from that time. katestarbird.substack.com/p/another-mu...

Holy shit, there's an open carry #2A protest of ICE happening in Douglas County Colorado -- a very wealthy and very red suburb county of Denver. (I lived there for 16 years.) The Trump Administration pissing off committed gun owners sufficiently for them to join the protests against ICE is wild.

The GOP had been making inroads in Minnesota over the last couple of election cycles, even with some incredibly weak candidates.

Now?

Good fuckin’ luck.

Tonight at a town hall, she was attacked.

Again, consider what House Republicans impeached Noem's predecessor for.
www.congress.gov/bill/118th-c...
Noem is certainly indirectly responsible for these slayings. But she compounded that guilt with actions for which she is directly, individually responsible: Viciously slandering the victims as terrorists, not just in advance of the evidence, but in brazen contradiction of all available evidence.
146 House Democrats back the articles of impeachment I introduced against Secretary Noem.

Secretary Noem has blood on her hands. Under her leadership, Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good were murdered.

Impeach Noem. Get ICE out of our cities.

This is important in understanding the killings of both Alex Pretti and Renee Good. They are regarded as race traitors by likely more than a few of those new ICE and CBP recruits.
White nationalist Nick Fuentes says that Alex Pretti was a "race traitor' and his killing by Border Patrol agents means there is "one less asshole in the world." www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwat...

My gosh. Alex Pretti was notifying neighbors that Trump and Vance's agents were chasing a family. A mob of agents then tackled him and broke his rib.

He thought he was going to die.

Then the very next week, he came back out to support his neighbors.

And a mob of agents killed him.

I've said before that what we need is a care economy. What we're getting is a care resistance.

Something important to understand about ICE thugs in the Twin Cities is that they're harassing innocent kids and parents at bus stops and schools every single day. Even after the Pretti shooting. It's terrorism.

This is a beautiful reminder of the humanity of not only Alex Pretti but also of the families and children ripped apart by a heartless, fascist regime.

When this thing is done, we either need to tear this monstrosity down & turn it into a memorial park or turn it into a museum so that we never, ever forget the atrocities that took place here.

I honestly don’t know which is more impactful.
I spent the evening outside the Whipple federal building in Minneapolis, where the feds have been releasing people they detained — often for no discernible reason — into the freezing cold... wearing whatever little clothing they had on at the time they were taken.
