Yo!
The only thing really disappointing is that at no time (that I was watching, which was most of it) did the bushes start dancing.

If the bushes started dancing with the music that would have been awesome.
the bushes were people 😂

More than half the drugs on the TrumpRx site have a cheaper generic version on the market.

Pristiq, an antidepressant, is available with a TrumpRx coupon for ~$200 for a 30-day supply.

A generic version is on GoodRx for less than $30 and Mark Cuban's CostPlusDrugs for $16.65.
How TrumpRx drug prices compare to generic alternatives
Patients could save more buying non-branded copycat drugs, even if they don't have insurance.

Let’s hope this podcast is syndicated in Canada, if you get my drift.
👀 Apparently, Ross Douthat invited Seth Harp to debate him on Douthat's "Interesting Times" NYT podcast. Harp says that the episode was recorded, Douthat got crushed, and RD/NYT decided not to publish it.

This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

This is the first example I’ve seen of an American government using AI to meaningfully misrepresent actual events with the intent to deceive the public. We are at Stalinesque levels of propaganda.

The Verge removed the paywall from this piece by @scottmeslow.bsky.social.

It concludes ominously: "Wherever you are, get organized now. Figure out who your likeminded neighbors are. Set up your Signal chats. Get some whistles (I can spare a few if you need them)."

It’s worse than it looks in Minneapolis
But locals are organizing to keep each other safe from ICE agents.

America has a housing shortage. Every single housing proposal you see that is not "build more housing" will have the primary effect of pushing up the prices of existing housing, and is therefore, in reality, a plan to enrich current homeowners. In conclusion, build more housing.

A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

My latest for Slate
You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

Conor has a lot of good points but I still have a hard time reconciling my model of life in America with this chart produced by AEI (right-wing think tank) where the underlying thesis is “trickle down economics works!”
This chart explains a lot of it — as both the overall population has increased as has the share of the population that’s upper-middle class, travel/leisure/hospitality industries have centered themselves around those more profitable consumers, making the core middle class unhappy:

In America you drop your kid off at school, get your brains blown out on the ride home, then the Vice President drops everything for a week to call you a terrorist, to slander your family, to protect the circumstances that led to your death so they can do it again. It is government by Alex Jones.

Not that I have the time, but if I did I’d start a “Fixing NYT” website and fix these problematic issues with their stories. Show both side by side with annotations and notes to take their pro-elite, pro-powerful stories and fix them to be more pro-people. I think it would qualify as “fair use”.
The most junior copy editor at the nation’s worst college paper could find a way to squeeze “which killed an estimated 40 people” somewhere into these top 6 grafs of the NYTimes story.

It was a conscious decision to bury it in the bottom half.

When my younger kid went to daycare the front door was locked. They didn’t let anyone in that wasn’t a parent, staff, or someone else who should be there. And they certainly wouldn’t let any randos off the street inside to film.
uhhh yeah I can see why these childcare properties weren't eager to let in some rando dudes asking "where are the kids?"

I was the only one in my house to get the flu shot this year. (Stuff happens, it just didn’t get done, sorry)

I was the only one in my house in the last 10 days to not test positive for Flu A (or anything else).

The flu shot worked for me. It will probably work for you too.
Dr. Oz on the "super flu": "Every year there's a flu vaccine. It doesn't always work very well. That's why it's been controversial of late. But like many illnesses, the best news out there is if you can take care of yourself so that when you do end up running into the flu, you can overwhelm it."
