ICE has been holding a disabled Black man for a year!

Rodney Taylor is a double amputee who was days away from receiving new prosthetic legs when ICE took him.

He’s been denied his prosthetics & placed in solitary.

His health is declining.

Public outrage might save his life.

Say his name:

Wow. What part of 'we are comparing apples to apples' is the US not getting, even now?!

Mike Godwin, author of Godwin's law, already gave us explicit permission to equate the current horrors in the US to Nazi Germany, and Trump to Hitler in particular, because they absolutely resemble that remark.
Jew in Amsterdam here. Please use Anne Frank as a comparison point to explain how state persecution of scapegoats impacts children, that is the point of her example, thanks
The Minnesota governor is getting widespread criticism for comparing children dealing with immigration enforcement to Holocaust victim Anne Frank.

For everyone who needs someone to tell them that jaguars are soft, and capybaras, while adorable, are not soft. Are Llamas soft?

This is what happens when you try to ascertain Llama softness: Put hand on back. Expect resistance. But no. Hand goes down and KEEPS GOING DOWN.

Llamas are mostly air.

More than anything I want people to understand that generative AI is clipart.

You could use it, but you really shouldn't. It looks terrible. Amateurish.

If you absolutely must use it, don't plaster it all over. Be choosy. We will still judge you but will also appreciate your restraint.

@myriadofsins.bsky.social I think you might need some of these socks. (Marks and Sparks)

Note to self: putting a tea-light inside a structure entirely held together by chocolate will result in rapid loss of structural integrity. And toasted marshmallows. Au revoir, gingerbread house! *salutes*

I would really like a book that didn't sell me anything, or claim it could cure my pain and fatigue (because it can't), but tells me how the hell I'm supposed to cope with the fear, the isolation, the avoidance, the fact that everything you try to do will have consequences for your pain and fatigue.

it is your DUTY as a parent to be basic and cringe. if your child says "6-7" and you do not say, loud enough for their friends to hear, "8-9?", causing profound silence and intense discomfort, you are neglecting your responsibilities. being cool is for kids. your days of being laughed WITH are over

And presumably no more shingles for adults, either. Chickenpox is a temporary misery but shingles is absolutely awful.
Some good news to start 2026: the new NHS chickenpox vaccination programme has officially begun. Eligible children will receive the vaccine during routine GP appointments. An important step forward – no child should needlessly suffer from a preventable illness.

The endless cynic in me thinks that not only does Trump want oil (no need for predictions there), but that a puppet-ed Venezuela will be a simply *lovely* place to move all those unwanted immigrants too, without the hassle of having to negotiate with other heads of state.

In all seriousness, if anyone knows any queer-friendly writing/social groups around North London please let me know, every one I've found so far either imploded or had weird vibes
Seeing there's a queer online writing group I can actually reach 🙂

Seeing it's on Discord 😭

We're living in an age of genuine medical and scientific miracles. The contrast between the amazing things science has strived so hard to achieve and what's happening in the wider world breaks my heart.
OMG 😭

Huntington's is an inherited disease that's like Alzheimers + Parkinson's all in one. NOW: "once the gene therapy has been delivered into the brain... [it] injects a piece of DNA to reprogram the neuron to become a factory for its own cure."

LIFE SAVING!

I don't properly know if oil is the reason, or just instability and madness keeping everyone on the back foot. But if you wondered what Trump had to talk about with Putin it was this. You want it? You take it.
Venezuela now, because he wants the oil.

He wants the oil under Greenland too. And under Canada. He's openly called for them to be part of the USA.

How long before he decides to bomb a couple of NATO members to get his own way?

The USA is a rogue nation.

2026 goal (yes, singular, I'm very tired):

Find a place to live.

I've already been at it for 6 months (with proper understanding and purpose for 3), but needing a ground floor flat bigger than a postage stamp when you're on benefits is some sort of holy unachievable grail?

Dear techy people, why, even when I have turned off ALL of the relevant options on my iphone, does it persist in randomly lowering the volume when something arbitrary steals focus, but at the same time claims it is at full volume? What do I have to do to get tech that does what it's told?

I keep getting completely irrelevant, generic results from google, and you can tell it's because it no longer uses the verbatim text you input, but uses ai to make a wild, fictional guess at what you want instead. I hates it, I does.

I miss dancing. I miss... life. Agency. Freedom. Chronic fatigue is one of the cruellest things that can happen to a person. Wouldn't wish it on anyone (except for maybe a temporary version for disability legislators).

The internet is driving me slightly mad. Is it fiiiive golden rings, or what is in my head the OG, five goooo-old rings? I keep hearing the former and I don't know where it's coming from. I am old, no need to tell me ;)

Trying to last minute grocery shop (I've really not been well lately so earlier wasn't possible) and it is so clear to me now that every single supermarket in the UK sells exactly the same stuff in different branded packages. No variety in price or quality. M&S is selling the same stuff as Tesco.

Watched A Merry Little Ex-mas so you don't have to. An entire minor character uncritically devoted to Harry Potter, you say? And that's before we even get to the plot. Yeuch. Also Jameela Jamil murdering British place names weirdly despite being British. Very odd.

Urgh. Transphobes in my comments. Leave such a bad taste in the mouth.

To double down: trans women are not, and have never been, abusive men in disguise. The stats just don't bear it out. /1

What the actual hell? @6music.bsky.social and the BBC you have done yourself a great disservice. What little respect I had left for you is gone. Robin is brilliant, and a big part of his appeal is the diverse audience his curiosity, authenticity and humour draws in.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.
December 13, 2025 at 8:19 AM
'Trans women are men and are a danger to women!' Says JKR (just so we're clear she's wrong on both counts).

Then her show invites a man who is a known danger to women and girls to visit the set.

Make it make sense.
They invited Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to the Harry Potter set THIS SEPTEMBER?!?
