Lying is normalised. Johnson, Truss, Badenoch, Farage. We seem surprised and yet we allow it to continue when the motives suit our agenda.
Mandelson 'lied, he lied and he lied again to my team' says Starmer at PMQs (describing the vetting process). Mandelson of course bears responsibility for that. But the question remains: why didn't Downing Street anticipate that a known liar would be lying to them?

My dad has recovered his grandfather's WW1 medals recently. No idea how they came to leave the family as his dad and uncle wouldn't have let them go, but our line of WW1 & WW2 medals is now back together.
