About a year ago I finally started reading Japanese books on my own! I am on my third now! Thought it would be a fun idea to document interesting/funny words or phrases I find! Not sure how many that will be. I also might not always get the meaning correct lol Sometimes, it's hard to find it!

Every big company at a high stakes poker table, going all in every time, loosing, then going all in again. The prize? The 'worker replacement machine'.

News pundits going 'what if the worker replacement machine had feelings?' rather than 'can't believe these guys are loosing so much money!'

Rasterization course 03: sibaku.github.io/site/rasteri... We learn how to draw triangles, the most important shape in computer graphics! In the process, we derive and learn what barycentric coordinates are and use that knowledge to draw our shapes. #math #computergraphics

Rasterization course 02: sibaku.github.io/site/rasteri... We learn how to clip lines against the output! After the last steps we could draw lines in all directions, but if they extend outside the image, it would result in an error. We fix that here! #math #computergraphics

Get rid of the AI search bar.
Get rid of the AI fish.
Get rid of the AI summaries.
Get rid of the AI chat bot.
Get rid of the auto AI recordings.

Slop doesn't belong in language learning and students and teachers don't want it.

A friend of mine recently admitted to me they had a serious fear of grammar, I tried to console them, but they ran out of the room screaming!

I don't know what happened, all I did was pat them on the shoulder and say "there, their, they're"

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis, as well as countless other victims.

We honor their lives by rejecting the evils of antisemitism, dehumanization, and authoritarian violence wherever they appear.

Never again means never again for anyone.

Said it before and will say it again, LLMs (gen AI) are not good for creating effective language courses. They're chat bots, random word generators that are wrong while making it sound like they're correct.

If you want to actually learn a language there are so many alternatives made by real people.

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”

I hate being That Person, but these things are killing our planet, propping up the worst people, making tools for our oppression, become the tools of choice for scammers and propagandists, encouraging kids to commit suicide, used to make CSAM, takes jobs, makes god awful «art».

Lay off for a bit?
don't really want to argue about the ethics of genAI overall right at the moment but if you're giving OpenAI in particular your money please consider literally any other option

Just watched first episode of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3... man... the anime is such an incredible adaptation. This episode's colors seemed especially good? Also funny to me was the German translation calling the culling game Metzel Spiele (hard to translate directly, but roughly "slaughter games")

The famous green owl app Duolingo is going even harder into AI made by stolen content. It's not curated by native speakers so you have no idea if what you're learning is correct. Their algorithm overall tries to hit the happy brain juices instead of helping you learn. So here are some alternatives!
