Today has been a rest & recuperation day. Visited Santa Maria de Naranco and El Cristo del Monte Naranco, from which you get a fantastic view of the weird spaceship looking hotel we stayed in yesterday on the left (site of the old stadium) as well as the current Carlos Tartiere stadium on the right.

Today has been a rest & recuperation day. I love Spain for so many reasons, not the least of which is you pull off at a random gas station to fill up & grab a bite & w/o exception they have actual silverware & china plates & cups. We know you're on the road but ffs be human, sit down & enjoy for a minute

A student at my school earned sushi lunch (brought in by his family) as his chosen reward for ongoing positive behavior. They brought in sushi for me to eat with him as well and TBH I feel like I'm the one who got rewarded here

It's fascinating. Never mind moral grounds; a focus on "welfare cheats" isn't even economically worthwhile. Going after wealthy tax cheats would yield SO much more bang for the buck in terms of return on costs invested. I wonder why we don't focus on it more [editor: she doesn't actually wonder why]
Or eg why constantly means testing poor people for the few meager scraps the govt provides is a thing, while elites happily avoid billions in taxes and nobody seems to care

TARAN WANDERER by Lloyd Alexander had a HUGE impact on me as a kid. A joyfully democratic instead of a monarchic vision of high fantasy - and life. Tremendously grateful to have read it when I did.
